The only thing is Legbars are autosexing, so straight run does not make sense if they could sell them as pullets----SBELS would have puffy cheeks, (once in awhile they hatch w/o them but not usually). They would be white or white with flecks. I can't figure out what they would be with no poofy cheeks and legbar coloring...maybe they are a cross between a leghorn and cream legbar? like the SBELS are Leghorn/Ameraucana crosses? I wonder if privet was contacted if they would spill the beans lol! Can't wait to see them Elk, I hope they all live and do well, you will have to let us know how they lay!
Between getting back in town, a funeral today, a new foster cat and chicks....I haven't had a chance to photo. However, we had some time we had to kill in SL so we went back to IFA. I had been charged $5.49 for the blue egg chicks, but the sign was $3.69. I had a chance to talk with the guy and he said this was a "one-time deal". That they are part Americana and "something else", "they are very expenseive chicks and the hatchery had someone back out on their order". They normally "cull" the chicks but offered him a SR price if he would take them.
He said that "Blue Eggers" will be their new name when they put them out for shipment. I will try to get photos tomorrow.
It's SO frustrating as there were only two chicks left in one brooder, both with MAJOR pasty butt (never cleaned). I hope someone took them home and helped them. More dead/dying chicks today, broke my heart. They treat newborn chicks like product, it's disgusting but big business.
