Are you in SLC 'proper'? Met a few of your neighbors ho have chickens during the SL Tour de Coop.

(to all) I still think my set up is cooler than most of theirs, but would worry about all those people coming into my place. Plus, it looked like they were only in SL Proper...

Hi daysiechicks! I'm in Salt Lake too! How many Chickens do you have? I have 3 bantams now. One has been laying consistantly for a few weeks.

My DS got them in March as chicks but somehow they have ended up as mine.

I think I will get more-maybe next spring.

Hay yall, You might want to call Steve Regan's before you drop in I got the last bad of affordable DE a couple of weeks ago. The five pound bags were insanely priced. I am looking for some white, splash or buff silkie hens if anyone has heard anything.

I had jumped over to your site and saw the pair but I'm in a no rooster zone except for me of course, I was really impressed with the splash silkies. Right now I have 2 black silkies (I think they are black) but the guy will be hitting the road when he gets noisy. The wife was wanting a white one but ya need to bring in more that one at a time so I was thinking one each of as many colors as possible.

Hey Y'all,

If you need DE, there's an earlier post [in this thread] (about 3 months ago) with information on a guy in Midvale that sells 50 lb bags pretty cheap, $40 I think.

I'm sad my EE's aren't laying yet, at 22 weeks

I am SOOO impatient.

As for the tour de coup, it was pretty cool, but a LOT of them were in violation of city ordinance, some of them even said so and didn't care. My coop was built to be in compliance, and I still think it's the coolest thing ever. speaking of which, I should take pictures of my fenced run now that I have the lids done.

How many of y'all have electricity in your coop? I told the electrician what I wanted / needed, and so he just strung up 4 freaking outlets. I'm amazed!

bootsu - I'd love to see some pics of your run now that's it's enclosed! We're really lucky one of our first layers WAS one of our EEs at around 18 weeks. The other one is still probably months out.

We do also have electricity in our coop. The previous owner had built it. I can't imagine how much $$ it would have cost us if we had to go from scratch. It's so spacious for the ladies too. They are pretty spoiled critters.
