Utah!

Nice Coop BRLarson!

Cynthia----those lav cochins are gorgeous. About the lavender ameraucanas, yes my girl is tiny. My boyish looking is huge, and when he stretches up tall good sakes he is double her height at least. Looooooong neck on him. She is adorable. Her disposition is very sweet, I can put her in with the little chicks and she gets along. The big one---no way. He HATES my australorp chick, and they duke it out if they are around each other. Before I get my australorp out in the big coop I will likely need to take the lav boy to his new home.

I went out (beautiful day!) this morning and took the plastic off of one side of the run. Made my girls very happy. I watched them for quite awhile, I am still trying to figure out who is doing all of the feather picking. My SLW and the GSL are doing it. The GSL is actually eating the feathers up,just gobbles them down. Makes me sad---my GSL lays the best eggs. Those are the last two from Cal ranch last year. Funny how I have had to weed all of those out one by one. None of the new ones do it.

My black ones from you----Gorgeous. So sweet too. They have been following me around all morning out there, hoping for a treat. (Yes they got many haha!) I really love those two. Hoping the lavender girl stays as sweet as she is now. Those three, and my barred rock, and my broody bantam are keepers for sure. Maybe my BO. The rest are on probation. I told them this morning---"You are too easily replaced, you better watch it! " Same as you, there is not a lot of room so if they do not like the quarters and the company, they can stay at someone else's casa. And that casa might have a crockpot so they better behave! When my new ones start laying, they older girls better be on their best behaviour---momma's getting tough haha!

and your girls are beautiful too! thanks so much for the pictures! hey lisa they may be feather picking because they may not get enough protein, i would toss them some cat food or leftover meat or something.

That's what she said. Sorry. I'm really a 13 year old boy.

Here's a link to pictures I took of my coop/run: http://acaptivechicken.blogspot.com/2011/12/i-actually-wrote-this-blog-post-in-oct.html

Sorry, I've been really busy. The real estate market is picking up a little bit, so I've been working on some new deals. My boy also turned 12 and we've been celebrating that with friends and family parties.
lmao! good one! good to hear about the real estate market. i wish there was not so many foreclosures, some in my neighborhood have been in foreclosure for years now and it makes my neighborhood look bad and then the bank will not take care of them so there will be weeds over 5 feet tall. sorry, its something that gets to me.

Argh! I left my incubator for a while and the blasted humidity dropped to 13%! There was water in the humidity tray, but evidently not enough.

The hatch is half done--six out of 12 have hatched, but two were pipped during that time and now I'm worried they won't be able to get out of their shells. Four more haven't done anything at all yet, but they wern't actually due to hatch until this evening, so some are early. I've got the humidity up to 70% now, but can't seem to get it higher. Still, there is condensation on the door, so hopefully it is high enough. I'm going to be freaking out all evening now.

On the upside, the chicks that are in there look very healthy and strong. I took these eggs before I seperated the flock, so they are a mix of BLRW, SLW, and one Austrolorp. There is one chick in there that is obviously from the Austrolorp hen and it is seriously cute! I will try to take pics, but not sure I can get a good enough shot through the incubator door and I definitely don't want to open it yet!

Okay, so these aren't the best pics in the world--kind of hard to get them through the incubator door while they are all hopping around pecking at everything!

By the by, I'm probably going to sell these ones if anyone wants little chicks for $2 each.

These are the Austrolorp mixes--turns out there are 2 of them so far!

Good for you Wendy, glad to hear that you have some work. You are busy, work, kids/family, and chickens! Nice coop you have there. I like your site you made. Wish I could do that, looks like it would be fun. Maybe I'll have my daughter help do one on a day she is here..one of my many daughters, but the one that knows computers! She is a travel agent, makes a lot of fun sites for her work.

Anyone ready to travel? Here's her site to go to.. Worwood You Like To Travel.. Just google that, should bring up her facebook site for travel. :)

Can I just say, I am glad that everyone's posting pictures of their coops and birds? This weekend has been a total nightmare for me and seeing everyone's happy pictures is cheering me up.

bird-man - You lucky duck. That SPR looks beautiful! I love how she's just chilling in Cynthia's hand.

corvidae - Where are you located, again?
