Wow Kimmie! You have a great flock! Hope they find a nice home. Love those last two, very cute. Hey question----I am trying to determine which red-colored chicken to keep in my flock for great laying and non-aggressiveness....some of those reds I hear are ornery---I do not know anybody with NH, they are one I was thinking about keeping. Have they been pretty mellow?

You do have a lovely flock, Whittni. I hope you can find a good home for them. I think it may be difficult to find someone willing to take that many chickens, especially with 7 roosters in the group. Hopefully you find a great animal lover though.

Sphinx-Cynthia----I have some updated pics of the lavenders so we can update comparisons for gender.....mine get to looking more and more alike, whereas before the big one looked totally boyish and different. So here are a few...

I listed my cute little BLRW chicks on KSL today--feeling pretty torn about it, but I've been so sick and overwhelmed this week that I think it is probably best. I have a couple dozen BLRW's in the incubator, so, hopefully, I won't regret it. I listed them for $6.50 each--do you think that's too much? I've not sold pure BLRW's before, just the eggs, so I wasn't sure what to charge. Should I lower it? I won't be too sad if they don't sell, but I don't want to make it for sure they won't sell by pricing them too high.

Of course, if it were a BYC member, there is always a discount!

Here are the EE's Cynthia------the first one (2 pics) is how the brown one turned out. The second one is the chipmunk fat belly crawling one I know you will remember what I mean by that

I really think this one looks like a pullet. Her comb is still really yellow.

This one shows the splash from that hatch of three BBS...it is really small, still thinking a girl
and the Australorp Ozzie is there on the right.

Ok so if anybody spots any obvious roosters let me know! I am still guessing The Lavender Ameraucanas are 8 weeks old, the splash Ameraucana (ended up being an EE we think due to green legs) is 7 weeksand she is the tiniest by far, the Black Australorp is 5 weeks (It has gotten bigger than the lavs!) and the striped speckled EE's are 4 weeks.

OK. "A" is the one in question. I will say "A" instead of "him" haha I do not want to say it out loud. I can see the faintest bit of three rows across, but not really prominent. It sits up a bit higher than the other one, and is more pink....but the other one seems to be catching up so they are not as different as they used to be.





and this one is "B" for comparison. It looks a little broader across the nose, but it sits really low and is still pretty yellow

They were so drastically different there for awhile, but today I am thinking these two are getting alot closer in development, it is not as obvious at first sight who is who. Please tell me what you think. I see no saddle feathers, for 8 weeks wouldn't those be showing up about now?

Birdman, in this pic, the far left beak is the big one, the next one is the small, you can kind of see the difference between them when they are together...the third one I also think possible boy, even more than the big lavender it is getting pretty red.... and the others I am hoping girls. My guess

hmmm i am not sure at this time but if that comb has 3 rows i know that is not a good sign. i am leaning to it being a roo but i think i would wait a bit to know for sure. does it act like a roo at all?

I heve never had a rooster, but the behaviour is what made me think it was a boy---it was just really different.---it seems to protect the other one---when I put my hand in it runs to the front of the other one and tries to block me from picking her up. She, ( the little one) is very quiet and docile, loves to be picked up, the bigger one can be a bit mean.... also big one hogs food and when it eats he makes a giant mess...when around the other chicks, it steps in the round bowl, eats from the far side, and when the others come near it pecks at them trying to scare them off. If i put a round dish in there it gets inside and acts like it is challenging anyone from coming near. So I was sure it was a boy----but they are looking more and more similar, so I wondered if the big one is just more aggressive and because of the size I assumed it was a boy---but was wrong? I keep looking for those stringy feathers, but they are all very rounded still....but the comb does have more texture---the main row in the middle, but on the outsides there are teeny bumps that look like possible rows. Thanks for your input, I do not want to re-home it until I am sure---reason I am being so impatient is I am headed to Idaho in a week, where the person is that wanted it if its a boy. IF it turned out to be a girl, and laid a beautiful blue egg I would be so ticked off haha! I hate to make two trips, but that big one seems to be trying to convince me this last week that is worth waiting to see what happens.
