Utah!

Wow lots happened today! Congrats on the chickies Blujems! And on the New Hen Cynthia! She is gorgeous. I met hattie tonight to pickup my Delaware chick from Birdguy, Guess what? he sent two. Awww man!!!! Cute little babies. One is super cuddly and just hollers until you hold her then she goes out cold, and snuggles up really sweet. Love her, she will be my next new favorite lol. The other one is so sweet too, just not quite as snuggly.

Birdguy: Thank you so much! x2! lol

Cynthia--I saw your chicks again on the way back through, more feathers now, it is amazing how much they change in two or three days... I am really sure one is a girl. As sure as you dare be this early :p They are so sweet. I have to say though that these Ameraucana babies may be the worst foragers when they grow up. They seem to have to be shown the food constantly. I have one that REALLY needs to eat or i may lose her/him. We are trying yogurt, everything, it will only eat from my fingertip above its head, like the mama giving the baby a worm. Pecking for food is not happening with that one. Nurse Lisa is what I need to be with that one.

Red, I am guessing that you passed on chicks because you are displaying a very abnormal amount of self control with the Delaware chicks.....If you were getting one you would have caved by now. I am guessing maybe feed.....or scratch....and a bigger waterer or feeder.

Sphinx good job on that boot! Good idea.

Sasha, you need to come visit! And you too blujems!

Daloorashens, the stripes should be Wheatens. The stripes get really busy, several rows over the next week or two, then rust colored and gray colored feathers come in on their backs and up higher on the wings. Really pretty the way these feather out, they just get really interesting and beautiful.

Donna you need to stop working so much and tell us what is going on at Fort Chicken and get some Breda pics up! :)

Lisa, thanks for sending those babies off..got a call from Aunti tonight..will see her tomorrow.
I'm telling you, you are lucky, the timing was just barely off. You had asked if I had any Ameraucanas. Well, three of the ameraucanas that hatched, the I won from the hatch a long, are dark blue. I also have a few EE's. She marked the Ameraucana eggs, but easy to tell the difference...slate leggs. These have some pretty good puffs going on already! I am loving one of the EE's. It is different in color..probably a boy. I have a couple of black EE's.
Jesusfreak wants some..are you out there? They have hatched, plus I have more EE's on the way. I have two marans that hatched tonight. They are weak right now. Two marans out of 6. I was supposed to get the 12, but I asked her for the EE's and Ameraucanas. We did 8 and 6. Not sure what I am going to do with the Marans. If anyone close by wants them, come and get them. I want to keep them for a few days to make sure they are doing ok. They are from a nice line I'm sure. From a gal here on BYC.
I have a lot of people that want the Silkies. Who was it on here that wanted some? I want to give a BYC friend first choice!

My son got his Missionary papers in! yaaay, he got a text from the Stake President, will have a meeting on Sunday, then off they go to the G. Authorities..and we will know where he is going before we know it. My baby is leaving. I know, I keep saying that.

Aw that is so hard with the young men, graduation then off they go---I hope he gets to go somewhere EXCITING! Let us know as soon as you find out.
Funny about that timeing on the Am's---good timing---because I really should not buy another chicken. for like two years. Sheesh I lost count, I know I am over 30. Several boys though...but still. No. More. chickens.!!:p That being said, I cannot wait to see your chickies. ANd if none of my Marans hatch I might bite....maybe maybe.....my little masked villain polish now has a tail and not the other two,. maybe it is a girl after all. Now I think there are two girls and one boy. I can only keep one girl, so they better be showing their best behaviour. I will definitely post a good (much better) pic of that little guy (girl?!) tomorrow.

Apologies chicken friends, my spacebar on my keyboard is having issues. If you see words run together sorry! I keep going back and fixing dozens of words at a time, I see some I missed back there :)

Sorry I haven't been around much lately--been working like crazy and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight for a while on that.

My poor kids are starting to think they've been abandoned.

Bad things happening on the chicken front, too. Remember those Isbars that brought the chicken plague down on us? Well, that all seemed to have passed some time ago and I moved them out to the larger coops outside--they were way too big for the indoor brooder. Unfortunately, I stupidly put them in with the Breda and some BLRW's I had out there. Yep, you guessed it--they are all dying. 11 Breda have died so far and I think 5 of the BLRW's. A bunch more look sickly. I should have offed those stupid Isbars. Now the whole lot of them are contaminated with *something*, though we still don't know what. They get lethargic, droppy-winged, puffed out, then either die or get better. I'm very thankful now that I didn't put them in with the legbars, but my son is very sad and upset that his Breda are all dying. I'm at a loss as to what to do at this point. I want to take some of the bodies up to Logan to have them examined, but I just don't have the time to drive up there.

I've turned off the incubator for a while (finally!). Can't hatch anymore little ones until we get this all under control, of course. My friend's have taken the legbars up to Duchesne for me (I haven't had time to get up there for a couple of weeks), so they should be safe. If I just knew what it was, I could figure out what to do.

Donna I see you ! :clap

Edit---you posted before I go this up lol! yay!

This is such sad news about your flock! So awful! I sure hope you can figure it out so you at least know what is happening. Did that guy EVER respond? Yet?

Hey, I'm hoping for some advice. I am having a problem with poo. Actually my mom has the problem. More specifically her chickens do. She asked me to talk to you guys and see if anyone knows what to do with them. Two of her chickens (about 2 months old) are dropping a loose, reddish brown, very yucky, strong smelling poop.

I guess they have been doing it since they have been chicks and she tried Wazine wormer because that was what the feedstore suggested but it didn't get any better. I guess it has a Sulphate base. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be and what she can do about it?

Oh! I posted this before I saw Corvidaes post. I am really sorry about your chickens. That is so awful!

Lisa.. Did Aunt Hattie remember to tell you I picked out 2 roosters for you?? :lau

Oh now you would not dare would you! haha! I did notice the sweet one has some green paint under the wings and around the bottom.. I was thinking, whether the hatchery would have sent extra roos to keep them warm and marked them to let you know......but your order was pretty big now, they would not do that right? Promise me?! lol

Hattie said she got to see Fonzie :love You should put a pic up next time you are out there, I bet he is getting 'purdie! Hope he is still being ok. And thank you again for the 2 chicks (I think?!) these GIRLS are very cute.

Lisa! I've been wanting to get out to visit with you all week, and it's just been one of those CRAZY weeks. Tomorrow we are all going to the Golden Spike. Sunday may be my only afternoon off, what are you doing then? Monday I take my dad to the airport so he can fly back home to Wisconsin-Mom and my brother Aric are staying here for another couple weeks and they will drive back home.
Hey! anybody needing a chicken shuttle between Logan and SLC airport on Monday?
big_smile.png
Of course, this means I will have to make a stop at the IFA in Ogden as well. (Pray for me!)
Congrats on your new Delaware babies! I hope you can get your Wheaten baby to eat and start thriving.
Blujems-your new babies are so cute! Brothers/sisters to ours! The first chick is way different colored than any of ours-I love it. Speaking of babies, anybody want bantam Wyandottes? We're going to sell 3 of them I think. At least the 2 boys. I know, just what everybody wants, more roos!
