DO NOT PAY TO HAVE THE TRUCK FIXED. MAKE THAT @@##$%$ criminal do it. Either see if he has insurance on another car or see if your insurance will fix it or sere if the crime victims reparation fund will pay for it. I am so sorry. Wish I could help more

Well, we're finding out more of the details as the time goes on. I'm really not exaggerating when I say that the truck was in mint condition. Now? Driver's side is totally smashed, there's a fender jabbing into one tire, the engine is smoking, and the tailgate is gone. And I was right when I guessed that certain illegal substances were involved. The kid had a bunch of clothes and a laptop he'd stolen in there, too. No word on my boyfriend's tools, or if we'll ever see them again. We have to pay the first $1k for repairs, but after that, insurance will cover it. BUT - if it's in bad enough shape, we won't want to repair it. We would try to declare it as totaled. I think I'm going to be sick

Make the crook pay. If hes under 18 his parents are responsible if he;s over 18 and has car insurance on any cat they may pay for it. Talk to your insurance they will be able to advise you

Red what a mess! I was really hoping they would just find it for you but not wrecked! So sorry. I agree with sundancenbare. Best of luck.

Anybody want a broody hen? I now have two. My other Silkie is joining in! I put them both in cold water with ice in it. I closed up the coop so they can't go in and they are so mad. They are making noise to let me know it too.
My chickens are also giving this new little Cochin a bad time. Poor thing. How long will this last? Seriously between those two issues I'm going to end up with heat stroke being out there with them. 102 degrees today :( the mister is helping a little.

I would love to take a few broody hens! I've always got a friend who's looking to get me to hatch eggs for them, because their own hens have refused to go broody. Where are you, Hattie? I'm in SLC for father's day and will probably be able to pick them up if we can stop by on the drive back.

Red----declaring it totalled is usually a good deal. At least for us, two times, this was our experience.....You get top dollar :) Then you could replace it. We got 5ooo more for our van than we were trying to sell it for after some punk hit my front end. I was actually so thrilled he did it :) It was for sale at the time for 12k and we could not get anybody interested. They gave us 17k! You definitely need to play hardball with the insurance adjuster. They paid us $1000 over high book. Amazing! We kept telling them we were going to take them to court for the time we lost our vehicle, the inconvenience, etc.....you have a much better case so I bet you could really get a good deal. It was all paid and done within 10 days.

Also My DH got rear ended after an Aggie football game, the other drivers insurance company adjuster came right out, declared it totalled and brought us a check all within a couple days. State Farm I believe, it was really fast and also they gave us way more than we thought they would. It was hardly damaged....but the frame we thought was bent, the tire rubbed, that was all we had to say, and they just agreed on the spot to cash us out. Cannot remember the amounts but I was so surprised at how much they offered, we did not give them any numbers, we just took the first offer it was waaay more than fair.
Wishing you good luck on this deal and hoping it all works out. Dang kids on drugs! They just do not get it, how hard the adults work to have nice
things! He should be sentenced to hard labor for a very long time.

Sundance, I really really really like your chicken mileage math :)

Hattie, hang in there! Broody chickens are worse than cats in heat, I have been there! But you have to persevere! Or rehome haha! Too bad they chose such a bad time of year to act up. :barnie

I had a motorhome that caught fire. The insurance tried to offer half of its value, because that's what book was, not taking into account it's great condition. I got three estimates of value from sales people and they actually paid the value amount. I was surprised and pleased.

I hope they will be fair with you.

Red- I was rearended and the insurance declared it totalled even though I didn't think it was unfixable. I was pretty happy when they paid me quite a bit more than I paid for it. Hang in there - it will work out.
