Utah!

Love your RIR, Red, it's making me want to get some Heritage RIR's now and some cuckoo marans hens and make some really pretty BSL's, they'd have some awesome red feathers on their chests and possibly darker eggs, and also cross them over the Delawares for some nice dark red Red Stars... , hehe

Uh oh, DH is reading over my shoulder now, so I better change subjects, "oh no, not more, he's saying", lol!

And Lisa... I know secretly my DH would do the same, despite all his complainings=) It's so cute that he brought you home a chick!!

Oh ya my guy is a sweetheart.....I thought it was so cute he found the teensiest little fluffball and comes home all proud of himself haha!

I think Birdguy is doing sexlinks with his Delawares in the Spring....you guys are having too much fun up there! It would be sooo nice to know the genders right off the bat. I know I will go for more GSL/BSL in the Spring, I am missing my HenRee's giant eggs. I am babysitting my neighbors chickens and her two RIR and GSL are laying the most giant eggs, it is making me crazy jealous. NO I have not swapped the Australorps haha I am afraid to swap the germs and have something bad happen...dang I wish we did not have to worry about that stuff!

Hey Utah neighbors,

Sorry if I have not been able to keep up with the thread this week. I went on my midnight run to rescue geese from California from a horrid place on Sunday and returned home on Tuesday with 69 geese!! Breaks my heart that I had to leave 50-60 behind, but I had my trailer filled to the max!

For those who were considering getting geese, PLEASE adopt a pair!! They are beautiful, although in need of some tlc. Also, donations are much appreciated as I have spent over $1,300 (so far) out of my pocket to save these guys.

Here is the thread about the situation and the great goose rescue:

There is also a link to a rescue page on my signature line that a wonderful member set up for more information.

Thanks!!!

You are a true animal lover. I used to spend money like that rescuing dogs. I would hear of one, get it, get it fixed, get it's shots. Train it, then make sure the people that were interested in it knew what the dog's personality was, and what it was bred for. Not bragging, just thinking it's interesting how people have different animals they decide to rescue. Have you guys heard, that Bob Barker just spent moo goo bucks on bringing three elephants to our country? I remember he used to always say, get your dog spayed or neutered. I had no idea he liked elephants. I love baby elephants!
Good luck with your geese. Pictures?

Lots of rescue people & places for horses, dogs, and even cats.... but no one seems to care about geese, which I do not understand. Geese are the perfect cross between a horse and a dog. They are beautiful, intelligent, form emotional family bonds, stay close to home, and are easy to keep. Here they are in my trailer. Front half is juveniles, back half are the adults. Total of 60. There were 9 babies in kennels in my suburban, which thankfully have already been placed into homes in my neighborhood.

Oh they are beautiful! I remember my neighbor had them years ago when we lived in a different city. They would come over to our place.
They sure make good watch dogs..geese! We always knew when something was up..that shouldn't be.

Ok, waiting to eat lunch....lol meanwhile I am taking pics right now of my girls. Wanna see? there are lots. I didnot get everybody, but got some of my faves :)
