Utah!

Lisa - so glad your baby got to you! My son is very concerned over her disappearance! He keeps walking over to the box she was in and saying "chicken? Chicken!" and giving me a very worried look.

My girls are so sweet! We are loving them! Especially my son, he wants to spend all day watching them and petting them. It's chilly this morning! I even convinced my Canadian husband that it was time to turn on the heat! The only room that is comfy is the office where the chicks are. Their lamp  keeps things nice and toasty.

Oh my gosh, Aravis. Your little boy sounds so cute. The heat for the chicks was something I liked last winter, too. I had some of my babies in a shed for a little while with a big construction lamp out there for light/heat. Man, that thing warmed up the whole shed! I remember sitting out there while playing with two of my babies and sitting fairly close to the lamp - though not too close. I saw my shoes start to smoke once or twice

Pawtrait, that's pretty funny about your one hen. Both my BBW hen and tom do the same thing, sans doggy door. They follow me everywhere in the yard, into the garage, into the chicken coop when I'm trying to clean it, and they try to follow me into the house. We have to shut the door quick when they're in tow. I wish they weren't meat birds. They are so cute. I may get a couple of Spanish Blacks next year, since I had one I got from Shawn and my BF really liked it. What breeds of turkey do you have?

madchicken, that EE girl is very pretty! Wow, beautiful coloration on her. That will be fun to see what color of egg she lays, too.

Lisa, awwwww. That un-NN sounds so sweet. I think you forgot to mention one of the best things about chicken friends - they encourage your addiction, muahahaha

Guilty as charged.

I tried filming the turkeys again this morning to see if they'd do the full-on vault and squeal into the feed barrel. They did a dive, but no squeal again. I'm beginning to think that they're too fat and contented. Bah. My obsession with it is so bad, I dreamed both last night and the night before that I'd gotten up and fed them without recording, then was like, "Oh, shoot!"

Haha, you guys are funny with your stories, and HOLY COW Shawn!!! You have been working hard, sheesh!!

Lisa, just FYI, but those leghorn EE's are not the friendliest birds, I think it's the Leghorn coming out in them, they're fine once caught, but they don't like to be caught... and they were held lots as chicks, too... And Red, my bigger EE from Cynthia also has some curly-looking feathers, the pullet, on her tail... One day I noticed it and thought, hmm, weird, because I'm pretty sure she's a pullet, her brother started crowing weeks ago and had a VERY red comb weeks before that, so I had to rehome him and the other EE roos from Moriah's... Interesting how that cross of chickens is turning out...

The blue copper roo at my mom's is now molting, too, so once again, another wait for pics, he had missing feathers from being in with the other roos at Shawns, and they were all growing back in nicely when I noticed he was molting, sheesh...
He is a really nice rooster, I never had one as nice as him when I was younger... My son can just walk up to him and pick him up and he just clucks away while my son stokes his comb and wattles, his name is Tornado, haha

Yes, I am taking pics as we go of the coop expansion, and I need to take pics again of my other birds, they're getting so big and those wheaten ameracauna roos are really nice looking birds, makes me really excited for the eggs, I hope they lay one or two at least during the cold weather=)

Oh, and BTW, I will most likely be rehoming a few of the pullets early next spring once I decide who I am really keeping, so if any of you are in need of an already laying hen next spring, I will have some=)

There's a Partridge in house!! (that's me in my sun glasses)

Sundance is a sweetheart. I LOVE chicken people.

Got my little Un NN! It is Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute. Love the personality, so so sweet. A little pink going on... so I am crossing my fingers really hard for good luck. WE snuggled on the drive back and it fell asleep on my lap. Social little baby <3 Thanks so much Cynthia, and Aravis, and Sphinx for the help getting this baby to me

We are working again!

Yes, thank you everyone for helping get that little *girl* to Lisa..Lisa, I don't know how the NN's, or in this case, a barn yard mix would be in the comb and wattle area. Like I said, I've had some get big ...and..pink very early. When my little Wellie I have now did this, I was so sad. I thought for sure it was a boy, but now at three months, I know it's a girl, no doubt..so, keeping fingers crossed, that this baby will grow up to have some wattles like the Welies do.

Did I say ... I have a Partridge in the house??!!

Hey, congrats on the partridge, Cynthia!!! Sundance is awesome chicken people. Luckily (or unluckily?) for me, I was so busy last night with clients that I wasn't able to get to her house. I'm very disappointed. And kind of relieved. As it was, poor Lisa didn't get her chick til after 10:30pm.

We have midget white turkeys. After trying some different breeds, we decided to just have MW. They are so friendly and don't get as big as other turkeys. That works well for us. :)
