Love those colors Sphinx! Good luck on the water training. Do you have a syringe? I have used those before when I knew my babies weren't going for the water in the bowl. You put a drop on their beak, they go crazy for it because they are thirsty..as I am typing this, I guess a drop on your finger would work too..then lead them right up against the dropper as they chase your finger around..mine would chase the dropper around. Then I would swirl the water for them in the container..might work for the water nipples?
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
At least it wasn't on the top rung of the roost this time...that was a sticky drippy mess. Part of me wants to give her credit and blame Peaber, but the signs are pointing to Ophelia.
We don't know for a while, but this little one has more of a pointy feather, and the comb is looking good. I am keeping a tiny tot from the hatch. It is a blue. I've had to baby it since day one..and it hatched out on it's own, but very very small. I will post a picture of the yellow one that will be a white splash tomorrow.
Also, if I could only get my Blue Splash bred..that would be great. She is laying like crazy. That would be great to have some Silkie eggs that would have a better chance coming from my back yard.
