Thanks! Big chunky speckles, I like 'em! So funny she was getting very mad at me this morning, I was changing the coop shavings and she just kept coming up and bawking at me like "get outta here, I have business to do!!" I had no idea she would start today, esp with the cold and all the snow. I think a few of the others are on strike. Not as many eggs out there today as there has been. :rolleyes:
 


Fall is here in Southern Utah...BRR! The flock seems very cuddly with this wind, the smell of new hay and the touch and sound of crispy leaves, its kinda cute.

It seems like they will sit on the eggs for up to a couple of days after they start hatching, so then you could take the ones left over into the bator, very carefully, since it's like lockdown... It's been about 15 years since I had chickens as a teenager, but I loved having the broodies, soooo much less worry than incubating... But, if she's still laying, is she totally broody?? They usually stop laying when they are truly broody...

I was out hooking a light up to keep her warm and put food and water in the coop so she didn't have to travel so far away from her eggs (i havent't seen her leave the nest yet), and one of the other silkies was in the nest box with her. Good thing i marked the eggs cause as soon as the silkie laid the egg and left the nest box Apricot pulled the egg right up under her. Sneaky little girl.
 
Blu, Lisa, those are gorgeous eggs! I am actually having some egg envy right now. Congrats to you both! And Lisa, how funny that the chicken was getting ticked off at you for being in "her" space.

I'm kind of surprised to hear those of you who are further north say that Cynthia got more snow than you did. That's about how much snow we have here in West Valley. Must be the lake effect or something.

Whittni, that picture makes it look like you have a giant chicken in the group, lol. Cute to see them all snuggled together.

Had to get pictures of my dog Toby..my Golden. I get pictures of him in the snow every year. He loves it. Doesn't hunt, but I've trained him to sit and wait when I throw the ball sometimes. He waits, until I give him the signal, then off he goes to find his ball. I threw the ball in some deep snow. I do this every year like I said..I love to watch his nose at work.

He's dug some, this is intense for him as I saying..get it, get the ball!

I think he's got the scent pretty good here

Got it! I love this guy. He's a lot of fun.
