I was out hooking a light up to keep her warm and put food and water in the coop so she didn't have to travel so far away from her eggs (i havent't seen her leave the nest yet), and one of the other silkies was in the nest box with her. Good thing i marked the eggs cause as soon as the silkie laid the egg and left the nest box Apricot pulled the egg right up under her. Sneaky little girl.It seems like they will sit on the eggs for up to a couple of days after they start hatching, so then you could take the ones left over into the bator, very carefully, since it's like lockdown... It's been about 15 years since I had chickens as a teenager, but I loved having the broodies, soooo much less worry than incubating... But, if she's still laying, is she totally broody?? They usually stop laying when they are truly broody...
