Utah!

Hi Aravis, Having had to give a chicken a soak, it is an adventure. I saw that there are a couple of U tube videos and this link http://www.tillysnest.com/2011/07/how-to-give-chicken-bath.html which seems to give step by step procedure. Dawn is the best for soap and you need lots of towels and/or a hair dryer capable of low and high heat. Have to watch out for the high heat because you can burn them. Hopefully your chicken won't mind the bath! Ours was egg bound and really didn't care what we did to her if it would make her feel better. Have fun! ucm

MAKE SURE THEY GET VERY DRY AND NOT CHILLED. iF POSSIBLE ONLY WASH THE DIRTY PART. cHICKENS GET CHILLED AND CAN DIE

One other thing use a mild soap and rinse really well. Baby shampoo works good and is pretty safe. Other soaps tend to be major degreasers and will wash out the natural oils that they need this time of year for waterproofing

i agree on the soap. and yeah baby soap is great. and making sure she is totally dry is a must, especially in this weather :)

Thanks for the tips everyone! I'll use baby soap...I even have extra gentle, fragrance free, organic baby soap because my son inherited my sensitive skin. :)

madchicken - She has poop on her...kinda looks like she stood under someone when they pooped.

OMG if I ever get to the point where I decide to bathe a chicken, just for giggles, someone please commit me.

Blujems, are they going to put that dog down? It sounds like a total menace, and I think I'd be demanding it.

I need to give my first chicken bath tonight! Any tips on how to do it?

Bath? Nah, they don't need a bath do they? If I worried about my chickens looking dirty ~ I would be giving baths to someone, every day! They get dirty, it's ok.

If they get a dirty behind, then you can do like Lisa just posted a while back. You can clip the feathers around their vent so it won't get poo stuck on it. Some of them have more of a problem than others. And one will get pooed on more than once in their life time. If there is a lot, you can just get a cloth and clean that area off.
