If all goes well. My little silkie should be a mom come sunday or monday, as long as the eggs were fertile. All the eggs that i ate during that time were fertile so they should be. I decided not to candle the eggs cause i didn't want any more stress on her since she is so young and her first hatch. Her two silkie sisters have been trying to sleep with the big girls in the big coop the last 3 nights. I found this strange since the big girls are ruthless when it comes to perch space. Maybe she has given them the boot out of the bantam coop. The only one that seems to want to sleep in the bantam coop is Momo the bantam ee and Rusty the bantam rooster. I think i might move the the two silkies into the the small run (about 200 sq. feet) with the new silkie roo Ratchet. He is a lot bigger then the hens but he is still young and not mature and the hens are trying to pick fights with the big girls so i think they will be able to hold their own with this young upstart. Any advise would help!

That is a nice looking coop your working on. Do the side lites open or are they for light only? We want to see the inside.

Looks like Lisa is now kicking off the 2013 hatching lol

Hey! that is more than a word....lol :lau
So I have it coming, with all the teasing I give everybody else :) I am actually getting pretty excited, although mad at myself that i am not waiting until a little better weather is around the bend....I really did not want to get all the brooder stuff out yet lol and trying to integrate chicks in February? Ewww i am going to freeze my butt off going out to the baby cage changing waterers and whatnot. Oh yes, I will pay for my impulsive choice :D

Lisa, who did you get them from..? Remember what I found out about shipped eggs..some places are better than others, that was what I found out. Some parts of California, mid west was real good, further down the south part on the east coast was good, didn't do well at all on the upper north east parts.
Idaho of course..but you are right there. Arizona was ok. For some reason, KY, AL. Tenn. were real good areas. When are your eggs coming, I'm excited for you. Now I'm the one not hatching the full breeds. Will be watching for the shuttle train come spring. If I get something else, I wouldn't mind getting a showgirl from you.
I do have my broody now, and two in the bator, that is fun. I have two babies that I kept out of this 100% hatch I just had in my old old bator I kept. I kept the 5th generation of the blue A. I very first owned. She is a mix, but not sure who the dad is, but she looks like she is going to be a splash..and, of course I kept the one that came from the pretty olive egg..and they both look to be girls!
Hey, what is that non NN looking like? Still looking like a girl? I know mine is now, pretty sure! I will have to post pictures of mine tomorrow. And of my little babies that I kept. Even though they are mixes, I just may get me an olive egg by the late spring!

Ok, can you believe my husband woke me up this morning at 6am, He wanted to go shopping. I told him we would go at 800 I just can't get up that early. My vet friend in Orem spent some time on the phone today with the vet in Oklahoma that does rooster decrows. She is going to practice on a few and see if she can perfect it. This procedure does not take the crow completely away but makes it very quiet. I have a rooster here that I just love he is so pretty. A black Americana with gold around his neck. He is the goal to keep eventually but she is going to practice on a few before she does him. I'll let you know how things go. She has a big rooster at her clinic that is going to be the first one. I have several more here that I know are roosters but they aren't crowing so they don't worry me. I hope this is successful. We will do large fowl first them move to bantums. That way I can have a sizzle rooster to0. I am doing ok. Went shopping with hubby. After first store I sat in the car and let him do the looking he wanted a coffee pot. I came home and took a nap then we put out the christmas yard decorations. I was able to help with those. I'll post some pictures when we are done.

I love the frilled neck ones. I saw those at the fair. very pretty

I got them from Silkie Sue...Iowa. Crossing fingers! I sure hope I do not lose them all. She has a paint Silkie Roo over a pen full of showgirls, paint, white, black...all with full bow ties. So I really hope to get something fun. They ship Monday the 26th....So hopefully they will get here safe and we can expect something to hatch the weekend before Christmas...Hopefully! I am scared I will lose them all.:fl
