Utah!

Cynthia--
My non NN is really getting pretty red. I am pretty much resigning to the fact that he will go to live with my showdude Maynard pretty soon, the same guy will take it if it is a boy...as always i am still holding out hope for a little longer. So glad you have some girls from your last batch, I really cannot wait to see you post that olive egg! I will be sure to check with you when it comes time to sell these (hopefully! Trying not to jinx my hatch!) babies.

Ok, I want to see that, the Silkie with a big baby turkey.  :lau    You would have to make sure she only had one!!

If you are wanting an older Silkie to start with, I will be selling my blue splash that is broody right now.  Her first time.  She is being a very good mama. I have two eggs under her, and two in the bator, that when the time comes, she will have those put with her.  I have a feeling she will be very protective.  She will not leave the nest area.  I put food right under her nose. She ate really good today.  Anyway, if you want her, let me know.  I have another Silkie, a cochin, and the Frizzle Partridge. so plenty of broodies coming up!   Not sure about that Frizzle, sure is gorgeous, but thinking it's a boy.  You never know.  I will hold out for the crow, like Lisa did.  lol..only Lisa thought she had a girl. I feel bad for her..I bet that showgirl is really pretty.   There has to be someone on here that wants a showgirl roo!

I didn't go to any of the sales today.  I thought for sure you were going to Cal Ranch.  If they had a nice big feeder on sale, I would get it.
i will have to pass this time but if you have any more in the spring you will have to let me know :)

I will definitely sell any silkies from this hatch.....probably still pretty early for you though Birdman :) Maybe I will have some to keep and sell when it warms up though, will see what happens and how fast they grow and start making a mess lol

Ok, can you believe my husband woke me up this morning at 6am,  He wanted to go shopping.  I told him we would go at 800 I just can't get up that early.  My vet friend in Orem spent some time on the phone today with the vet in Oklahoma that does rooster decrows.  She is going to practice on a few and see if she can perfect it.  This procedure does not take the crow completely away but makes it very quiet.  I have a rooster here that I just love he is so pretty.  A black Americana with gold around his neck.  He is the goal to keep eventually but she is going to practice on a few before she does him.  I'll let you know how things go.  She has a big rooster at her clinic that is going to be the first one.  I have several more here that I know are roosters but they aren't crowing so they don't worry me.  I hope this is successful.  We will do large fowl first them move to bantums.  That way I can have a sizzle rooster to0.  I am doing ok.  Went shopping with hubby.  After first store I sat in the car and let him do the looking he wanted a coffee pot.  I came home and took a nap then we put out the christmas yard decorations.  I was able to help with those.  I'll post some pictures when we are done.

wow decrowing a rooster huh? you will have to let us know how it goes. i wounder how loud the crow would be because if i could get away with a rooster that would be so cool

. There are so many pretty turkey breeds to choose from, though. I know Birdguy has a few at his place.
I have Black Spanish, Narragansett and Penciled Palms.. Will be selling eggs and poults.. I'm planning on putting lights in next month so hopefully they will start laying in February (instead of April)..

I think there are a lot of city people who would be interested in a de-crowed rooster if the vet figures it out and it isn't too expensive...

My wife and I live in Erda just outside of Tooele, welcome California. We are new to the site and just trying to figure out how to use it.

Welcome! I like Erda. My boyfriend lives in Tooele, so I come and go through there fairly frequently.

Hey, I've started putting my two Icelandic boys in the garage overnight so that they're much quieter when they crow in the morning. Does that count as decrowing?

Lisa, hahaha! You really don't like winter, do you? Gotta have some cute chickies to make it brighter for you. I hope they hatch out well for you.

Sundance, I don't blame you. The only reason I was up early-ish yesterday was because my boys woke me with their crowing, so I got up to feed them. Made a short trip to Cal Ranch after that, then came back home to rest.

The turkey that I was tethering in the yard figured out how to get the tether off of her leg ........... little brat. "I don't like this bracelet. Off!"

If anyone happens to be traveling in the early spring and would be willing to play chicken train up through Idaho Falls, please do let me know. I'm going to need help with a turkey transport from Birdguy's area

The BF really wants at least one of those Black Spanish's.
