My son did something similar in a bike race a few years ago~~his gloves really saved his hands though.

* Man oh man, that plain sux!! My kid brother did something similiar on his bike the very first day of high school. Down a steep NorCal road, wedged the front tire in a scenic train rail at the bottom of the hill, and did the face plant left side on asphalt and the steel rail. Fractured a cheekbone and missed his whole first week of h.s.-- Plus, first day he was back was picture day. He was the only one in a right-sided profile. Hope you get better soon! !
