5/6 hatched so far, the last egg is a big bantam egg is pipped, and zipped and it is still day 20. # 5 hatch may be a splash. I was hoping for a blue, but close enough. I am surprised I have so many blonde chicks since the dad was black. but the Great Grandfather was white so.

That is interesting. Maybe I misunderstood them when I was told he was in charge of the chick orders. :idunno
He might be in charge of the special order chicks people order, but those ship direct to the house of the person who orders them. I work at a TSC and I'm the only one who has a clue at mine. It's pretty bad. Company doesn't teach anyone about seperating them or anything, just basic chick care and proper disposal of dead chicks.

I have eggs hatching on V-day! 6 Black Javas and 6 Olive Eggers are in lockdown now. They were in my Brinsea Octagon 20 for incubation and now in my brand new IncuView for hatching. Crossing fingers all will be well...everyone looked great on day 17 candling!

The wait is killing me! My broody hen has 3 internal pips tonight so from now on I'll leave her alone and just watch for chicks!

It took all day but the two pips from this morning finally hatched and are drying off. Bonus there are now 6 more external pips in the incubator. So far so good, 25 eggs went into lockdown: 2 hatched and 6 more pipped. Now we just have to wait for the rest to show themselves. Day 19 went from boring to crazy. Let's see what day 20 has in-store.

I have a broody sitting on some dud eggs. I was thinking of slipping some of the chicks from this hatch under her after they are all fluffed out. However, she is very skittish and I am afraid she might abandon them. This would be her first brood, so she is untried as a mama hen. Should I go for it and hope for the best, or should I give her some fertile eggs and let her do her thing? Some of the eggs in the incubator for this hatch are hers.
