Valentine's Day 1st Annual Hatch Along

Day 19 sure is boring. I can't turn the eggs or do anything at all with them. LOL So far no signs of wobbling or pips, but I expect a different story tomorrow.
I CAN"T STAND IT!!! The waiting, the checking for pips every 10 minutes! I went to TSC to see their baby chicks and to get my mind off of my eggs. Funny of the Day from TSC staff:

Me: "What different breeds of chicks do you have for sale?"
Them: "Oh, we have some Rhode Island Reds, some pullets and some bantams."
Me: "Really? Which ones are which?"
Them: "Oh, they are all mixed in together."

On a serious note, has anyone else had any pips or peeps yet? I have nothing, not even wiggles.

I called Murray McMurray to ask what kind of chickens they had and the lady said, "we don't have chickens, just chicks."

Also I went to the zoo once and a boy said " look mom, a bird!" she said "that is not a bird, that is a chicken."

that's really intelligent of those employees!

I had 2 internal pips and cheeping under my broody last night! :woot

No wobbles or anything here.

I was at the grocery store a few months ago and there was a couple in the egg section taking pictures of the eggs with their phones. We live in a fairly rural area so I thought it must have been some kind of freak show worth checking out. After they left, I walked over and opened the carton they were taking pics of. There was an egg inside that had a chicken feather stuck to it. That's it!?!?! Where did they think eggs come from? The egg factory?

Sometimes people are so dumb.

I have PEEPING!!!!

Crud, now I gotta find something to do to keep my hands off the bator, lol...

yep... I always need to do something impressive to peel myself away from the bator

So, LOTS more have hatched out.... I was thinking I could take out the oldest ones, to give more space for the rest.... but my heat lamp was busted! I usually have a spare bulb... but nope, not this time... no bulbs anywhere...

I own maybe heat lamps.... where are the other two????

That cute precocious leghorn hatched, so I have a cute fluffy white chick in with all of the black ones... remember that the leghorn eggs were put in last, so he/she is early.

I am pretty sure one more Olive Egger hatched.... uh..... -insert acceptable curse work here- dang things all look the same

I will have to try Ravyn's trick with wire dividers next hatch.... this is annoying.

Well, I have had chaos around here and lockdown completely snuck up on me!

I have seven Lavender Ams and eight of the BY mixes in there. Tossed one LA (infertile) and one BY mix (ring of death). As of this morning, my weights look good, all of them right around 13% weight loss. I removed all the rails and foam and put them back in there on their sides with the humidity up to 65%.

I think technically I was supposed to start LD yesterday so I hope I didn't mess them up too bad.

A few of my air cells are still a little saddle-shaped, although a lot of the more saddle-shaped cells straightened themselves out--I am totally shocked about that.

FX this goes alright and I have a bunch of little fuzzers rocking and pipping soon!

Good luck to all of you also.

your TSC lied to you. All TSC stores will have them no later than February 28. Some store started a little earlier in the warmer weather states.

2 of my LA's were infertile and 2 had blood rings. I only received 7. So that leaves me with 3. They look pretty good. Glad yours are doing well also. I have had some crazy saddle shapes in the past, and most of them hatch ok. It's hard sometimes with them, trying to decide if and when to assist.

My TSC started getting them yesterday. I just thought it was so funny that they really didn't know what they had and they mixed the "pullets" with the "RIR" and "Bantams. I asked him what kind of bantams they were, and he said, "they're just bantams". I didn't even go there....lol He said the darker chicks were the pullets and the lighter ones were RIR. Poor guy!! I didn't mean for it to sound bad. I like to shop there and they have always been very helpful and knowledgeable. Except, when it comes to chicken breeds...lol

I'm jealous!!! I keep making a chirping noise at mine, but so far they aren't talking back to me.
