Crud, now I gotta find something to do to keep my hands off the bator, lol...

The waiting is so hard. My adult flock has been getting some extra (unwanted) attention. Each time I walk out the door my rooster looks at me as if to say, "seriously, she is checking on us again!"

<---my face when they said not til april

I would go back and talk to the again. The TSC by me is supposed to have some in next week. Feb 16 is what they told me.

My TSC started getting them yesterday. I just thought it was so funny that they really didn't know what they had and they mixed the "pullets" with the "RIR" and "Bantams. I asked him what kind of bantams they were, and he said, "they're just bantams". I didn't even go there....lol He said the darker chicks were the pullets and the lighter ones were RIR. Poor guy!! I didn't mean for it to sound bad. I like to shop there and they have always been very helpful and knowledgeable. Except, when it comes to chicken breeds...lol
I agree TSC doesn't know chicken breeds as well as they should. I was talking to the manager about what breeds they typically get in. He said "the red ones and the meat ones mostly, and a few others." It was a little disconcerting that he was the one who orders the chicks for this TSC.
I usually get my chicks from a small/local feed store. They know and separate the different breeds, unless it is a hatchery choice mix. We moved last summer and can't use them this year. So, I had to order some from a hatchery and hatch some of my own.

just a bit of information, Tractor Supply corporate orders all chicks for the stores. The stores themselves have nothing to do with it.

I love the loom idea as I can just pinch some from my. Daughters room and the barrier is the best idea....too bad I am already in lockdown.
My one little peeper is still peeping and today rocking! Not sure about the other 12... I'm on day19 and going a bit crazy....I gotta get away from the incubator Arg!!

I got these today at Dollar Tree for $1.Lots of pretty colors and different sizes. I've never tried them before, but I figured the plastic elastic would be better than the rubber ones, incase the chicks try to peck at them.

Our TSC only carries 2 or 3 kinds of chicks and they are all in different pens. There is another feed store down the road that is much better. The employees actually know what they are talking about. There is yet another large chain store a few miles away that has no clue. I also kind of suspect they get some straight run chicks since they seem to sell a lot more cockerels than would happen on accident.

One of my eggs was wobbling today. It was actually one from my neighbor and not one of my own, so I was a little bit disappointed. I can't wait to see how many turkens I end up with! Tomorrow I have to work, which is a good thing, or else I'd make myself crazy watching the incubator.
