Mine are due 13th if they were full sized, but they are bantam.

mine will be late. I set them late and they are larger large fowl so 22 days is not unusual for them. I'm hoping to see some the Tuesday after the 14th.

how many people increase humidity at hatch, and how many leave it low?

I always increase....

but I know people who said that they have better hatch hates when they don't increase the humidity.. actually no sticky chicks etc.





Which is odd, you would think that there would be more sticky chicks with low humidity at hatch..

Hi peeps, can I join you? I set 24 Lavendar orpington shipped eggs from 2 different farms the night of the 23rdThis will be my second attempt at hatching lavendar orpingtons. The first resulted in some mutts ( bad luck on eBay). This time I have some great fertile eggs from Garry Farms and a couple of incubators that I have to baby to keep the temps right
So can I have you double check my math please:yiipchick lock down should be the 11th? I'm trying to keep my husband away from my incubators so he doesn't see how many eggs I have in there (more than 24 as some are hatching later)

so I can't ask him to double check my math....also he will start asking me " so what is your strategy with the chickens"??? Strategy! Is he crazy

I've only done one hatch so far, but I foowed the directions of my incubator to the letter and got a 97% hatch rate! HovaBator Genesis 1588. I keep tray #1 filled with water whole 21 days and just fill up 1 & 2 for lockdown. They actually mostly hatched on day 20!

I think the people that are using the dry hatching method keep the humidity low only for the first 18 days. Everything I have read so far indicates that low humidity during the hatch can cause the chick to be shrink wrapped into the shell.

We fill our Two small water chambers for day 1-18, then fill the square chamber for 19-22
We've had pretty high hatch rates on all our own chickens eggs, not so goid on shipped
