I don't see anything unusual about to poos, what is concerning you?
I use the pine pellets because they don't create as much dust and they cut down on smell. A bag of pine pellets costs about the same amount as the pine shavings but you can make the pine shavings last longer.
I use pine pellets from day 1 with all species that I've hatched except for the quail. I had my quail on puppy wee pads only for the first few days before putting them on the pine pellets. They may be just fine maneuvering over them but they're just so tiny that I decided to wait.
