Valentines day hatch?

Got my new roo last night.. He came with a mate so I'm PRAYING for at least 3-4 eggs by next weekend!! They seem to be settling in very nicely so fingers crossed!

Yayyy! I will keep my fingers crossed that you get your eggs also!

Well.. Still no pretty blue eggs. :( LOL but she is at least allowing the roo to do his job now (as is at least one of my other hens) so maybe she's settling in a bit. But I'm also waiting to hear on fertility for BCM and GL Brahma, so I may just wait til I can have them all go in at once. I'll be following along though!

I am now on day 8. I tried to candle. I can't see any veins, of course I have never done this before though. The air sac rings have gotten bigger on every egg. I did notice that on two of the eggs, when I move them around, the yolk rolls with the egg, and on the other egg, it does not. I wasn't exactly sure if these eggs were fertile. However, I cracked open eggs since the ones I put in the incubator and they have been fertile. I'm so unsure. This is frustrating. I'm holding a smaller L.E.D. flashlight and not letting any light escape. I wonder if it is a strong enough light?

Are you in a very dark room? If not you may need a brighter light. If I recall, I could see very definite veins by day 8. Like a Spider-Man symbol lol. I assume you're doing duck eggs since you've gotten a head-start?

No, my 9 month old hen started laying eggs out of the blue. I'm going into the bathroom and shutting the door, so it is dark. I just wonder if they weren't fertilized :/ The ones she has been laying since I put those in the bator, have been. Her shells turn spotty once light is on them. I'm sure that may be making it harder to see.

Someone else would know better- I've never paid much attention.. I would think it might though, just from the egg losing moisture through the heat?

And I've never hatched chickens yet so don't scrap them on my account! But I just assume, since they develop a whole week faster than ducks, you should def see something by now?

What kind of incubator? What is your temp like?
