Our neighbor has about 40 chickens and just collects all the eggs (fertile and unfertile) in a big old basket I think once a day. So all eggs are mixed up that's why I'm not even sure if they are fertile. He doesn't even know 100%.

I guess we'll see if/when any hatch what they are. I am not getting my hopes up until I see veigns in a week.

Okay Vamp-A-Billy & everyone else! I'm finally here!!! It's hard to have 2 teenagers, 1 pre-teen, 1 kiddo, 1 toddler, and all of these animals and get a minute for myself! This past week has been golf and baseball, baseball, & more baseball!!!

Anyways, I am now on day 16!

I started with 42 eggs which were 15 Blue Orps., 24 Delawares, 2 Seramas, and 1 EE. I candled on day 14 and this is what I found. TOES! Just kidding, but I really did see some chick feet and toes.

That really was cool! Now to be serious... 1 Blue Orp. egg had a blood ring and 1 was clear. 4 Delawares had blood rings, EE was clear, and both Seramas were clear. I am now down to 13 Blue Orpington eggs and 20 Delaware eggs with chicks kicking all over inside of them! 2 more days and I take them out of the turner and bump the humidity. I am contemplating on whether or not I should do the egg carton method or not. What do you all think I should do?!?!

DuckyBoy what part of Colorado. I'll be driving through Co. on my way home from Montana the middle part of June. Also did you buy your call ducks or are they from your calls? I have 16 call duck eggs in my incubator, half are due to hatch 6/9 and the other half 6/18-19. Only I'm pretty sure the whole first half are duds.

If there is anyone in northwestern MT, down near I-90/I-25 in Wyoming or near I-25 in Colorado with call ducks or call duck eggs, I would definitely like to purchase some. Thanks!

O.K, I will join in now. I just have this silly (according to everyone else but me) superstition that if I tell something to some one, it does not happen.

Well, I already had to throw a bunch of infertile eggs yesturday, I will have some hatching next week though. I'll post then!!

Do the egg carton. When you get done turning take em out of the turner and stick em in an egg carton. I hand turn so I keep mine in the carton the whole time and tilt the incubator. It is great! They get out of the eggs so fast and it makes for easy clean up too. Make sure the air sac is up and the little end down. I wonder what my two random dark brown eggs are...cant wait to find out! Keep up the good work. And while you are waiting post a picture of any chick or chicken in the random Chicken Pics Contest!!! I am the contest manager and we need more entries.

Hey, Vamp-a Billy Princess, I like your explanation of the egg carton use, I have taken out the two racks off of the turner to make space for the first hatch, you think I should put the egg carton in? and also what do you mean by "tilting the incubator"? doesn't the water spill?

Thanks Vamp-A-Billy! Tuesday will be the day they come out of the turner and go into the cartons. I can't believe that I've made it this far! I'm trying hard to not think about it and remain calm here! This is what I feel like right now:

, along with a little hyper-ventilation going on!

Oh yes! I am also wondering if you had to help them out of the cartons? I know it's bad to open the bator while the chicks are hatching, so how does that work?

Mine's 45 to 48% without any water. Its really humid where I am. Last hatch I just tilted the eggs or spun them in the carton. They jump right out of the carton. If you have the room put eggs in everyother hole. Mine liked to curl up in the empty spaces to sleep.

Thanks for the advice! I'll be yelling for support come Friday!

I'm going to be a nervous wreck! I'm already lining up more eggs to load my bator up one more time. How many days do you think I will need to wait before I load it up again? I mean, how many days does it normally take for all of the chicks to hatch?
