Vamp's hatching crew! who cares what day u r on!Hatch with us!

Im on day 25 with call duck eggs from a white hen and gray drake. There is 8 of them. They are all alive and through the air sac. 1 has an external pip. I am hatching them in egg cartons, like I did with my last batch of chicks.

My hatch is finished! I ended up with 24 chicks out of 42 eggs. That's 50%, so not to bad.

I'm setting more eggs this evening!

I hope you have good results. I'm so excited to see what hatches! How many eggs were in the 'bator on day 18? Maybe you could brake into the school

When I hatched eggs in my school they gave me a key to come in and check on them

Oh and your ducks are coming the week of the 16, and ducks come between tueday-friday of that week, so your babies will be all ready for chickenstock!

Whooohooo!
I should have asked the principal if he was going to be in today. No need to worry about the humidity anyway, I'm sure it was good and warm and sticky in the school this weekend.
I'll try to post results tomorrow. I didn't take any of the 8 eggs out since I didn't have any luck candling them. I think one of the white eggs was clear but it was just too hard to be sure.

Yeah, especially with that thunderstorm we just had, i'm sure it was very humid. One of the white eggs clear? Normally my boys get their job done, maybe it was just a late bloomer

I canceled my vacation- no longer going to Tennessee first week of July. Now I have 6+ Araucana, 6+ Silkies, 6+ Houdan/Polish cross eggs coming. Should ship today and tomorrow.

I told my mom- and she just said "Why? As long as you own that dog, she is just going to kill everything."

Well, she is now banished from the bedroom, a babygate keeps her out, and I also reinforced my entire chicken yard with 1/4 inch and half inch hardware cloth. The only way in is through the gate or over the 6 ft privacy fence. I was going to add four ft wire to the top of the privacy fence- but I didnt want to raise my neighbors suspicions.

My remaining chicks are doing well- and those two SG ( :flare be girls) are so adorable, it is very funny- I don't know if they are attacking me or what when I tap my fingers in their food, the silkies from this bunch rush over and peck my fingernails (more so than normal, like they are obsessed-or is that possessed)...I have one Silkie that is so brave, it is all white, and when the rest of the attacked five are huddling far away in the corner, SHE

is brave and will come over to me.

edit to add:

Im worried about Vamp-a Billy,
she hasnt posted and I saw the flooding in Indiana on the news. I have no idea if that was near here, but sure hope she and hers are doing okay.

Came it to three very wet, loud active chicks! Looks like two more have cracks started. Lots of condensation and it's hard to see through the windows. I've been good and kept the bator closed. We've got the brooder set up and it's about 95 outside so the inside temps in this unairconditioned school about that anyway. I'll move any that have hatched before I go home tonight. Woohoo!
