Does thiss actually work? Or is it just a myth LOL because i did run to the store last night to buy myself one. Just now i hung it outside of their coop door and there are still flies going in >=( Also, wont the scent bother and harm the chickens?

The scent won't bother the chickens, I don't think they will ever notice it

The best thing for flies is a trap you can buy at Tractor Supply (or WalMart). Hang it up, when it is full of flies fill it with soapy water to kill the flies, then bury the dead flies in the compost pile.
Then rebait the trap and hang it up again. Works like a charm!

Soapy water eh? Do you have to put something else in it to attract them?

We bought one of those hanging fly traps and it works great but the bait that you mix with the water really stinks. I dread having to empty that thing though.

As for the vanilla air freshener... no idea. Have never heard that one.

Have not verified but from other threads and elsewhere, the pennies in a bag does not work. Think I read that they even tested that one on Mythbusters and busted it.
