I tried going back over this thread - did you worm her or treat for Coccidiosis (if you did I missed it)?

I see one small spot of red - could be intestinal shed and it's a bit mucousy too. See how the poop goes over the next few days. If you see more, then worming and treating for Coccidiosis may be in order too.

I'm glad that she's doing better though! Not being able to catch her is good LOL

Wow, you are good. I didn't see the blood but now that I am looking at the photo more closely it looks like there is something towards the bottom mixed with a little red.

I wormed both hens the first of May, maybe with Safeguard (?). Should I treat for Coccidiosis and if so what do you recommend.

Oh good, so they were wormed. Do you remember the dosing?

For Coccidiosis you can use Corid (amprolium). This can be found in most feed stores like Tractor Supply (in the cattle section) or you can order it online.

Dosage is 2 teaspoons of Liquid Corid or 1 1/2 teaspoons Corid Powder to 1 gallon of water. Give for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water. I would not give extra vitamins during treatment either. I would give it to them both to drink - Corid is mild and won't hurt them.

I have trouble getting them to drink vitamins in water. But of course I will try. I have a small waterer, maybe a quart size. Do you give your flock Corid on a regular bases or just when you know something is wrong?

Since I "scalped" ChicChick's butt treating her for vent Gleet, how long will it take for the feather to grow back?

I've not had a problem with mine drinking Corid water, but like your's they don't like Vitamin water.

My adults I don't treat for Coccidiosis unless one might be sick from something else. Adults "should" have resistance to the strains found in their environment, BUT (there's always a but LOL) I have found if a hen is weak due to illness, then sometimes they do benefit from treatment. I keep Corid on hand to give to chicks since they are more susceptible. Coccidia live in the chicken poop and in soil - but they chickens build resistance.

Did you trim the feathers? If the feather shaft is intact, those likely won't be replaced until she molts. She may have less fluff for a while.

Oh my gosh did I give her a trim. She has a naked butt; definitely no fluff for a while. Buying the Corid right now. After this episode of raising chickens in Crazytown, my first aid kit will be well stocked.

LOL Well, that good trimming job will make it easier to clean her if needed!

Yes the tissue stays in pretty much now and I have been trying to clean her backside at least once a day. Once I catch her she seems to enjoy it or maybe I’m just hoping she is enjoying the care and attention.
if your flock doesn’t drink water with vitamins, do give them another way?

Glad the tissue is staying in.

Sometimes I add vitamin/electrolytes in the water - they will drink those (likely because of the sugar), but just vitamins like Poultry Cell they avoid it LOL I may give the electrolytes during hot humid weather once a week or when I feel they need it/they look stressed - but they also have plain fresh water available too -so they have a choice. In hot weather I try to change water (give cool fresh water) at least a couple of times a day.
If I want to give a particular bird extra vitamins for some reason, then I catch them up and direct dose them.

I bought Life-Lytes but they won’t touch it. It doesn’t have any sweetener. Maybe if I add sugar they will drink it. How do you direct dose a chicken?

I've never tried those.

For direct dosing of vitamins - I like Poultry Cell. I give 1cc per 3 pounds of weight orally.
