Ventilation on small coop?

You may also want to wait until after you get the chickens. I would still cut a slit above the nest box nd cover with hardwire cloth, but more may not even be necessary, depending on the type of chickens you get..

View attachment 1378625 I’d add one same side and length as nesting boxes hardware cloth and possibly above their little door a small square would be fine. But two window/vents would be better if possible
That is where our ventilation window is. You can add a closable flap for rainy weather to keep the nest boxes underneath dry. That's what we did, and it works pretty well.

Creative use of space, but... a bit on the small side. If that is all I had to work with, I'd open the whole space up and turn the whole thing into a combination coop/run. 2' tall for the coop is simply not enough room. Your temps are mild enough that you could get by with leaving the whole area open most of the year, and adding some plastic sheeting for the winter.

You need a bigger deck! That would give you a bigger coop/run!

this is all helpful but I would prefer if you read the whole thread before posting so that I do not have to repeat information.
we have a massive predator problem but will be able to open the pop door 24/7. also, we will be extending the coop 1/2 foot on the side of the pop door so that it will be 14 sq foot coop. they will have access to a 40 sq foot run and their coop all day and we will be tractoring them on weekends. we will add a vent over the nesting boxes and one under the stairs.
also, the roosts are 6 in off the floor in an L shape to give them 4 ft usable roost space. we also will be getting EE's or Bantams so that they will not be cramped like larger birds.

We like to help others around here and sometimes things are forgotten or overlooked during long threads also being specific about your details is helpful in getting answers you like like what sort predators you are worried about?...

Thanks,
We have lots of skunks, multiple family's of raccoons on the street. Red tailed hawks, and stray cats. The raccoons know the neighborhood well. We have a family living in our tree. Although we have lots of predators, our coop is raised and very predator proof. We also have rats
