Ventilation Question

Why would she need a step stool?

Because:
That should get most of the sleep/roost poops and prevent me from having to get up inside the coop with a step stool.

I guess you don't NEED one for a 2' tall step up, though I admit I use a cinder block as a step up for mine when the human door is maybe 1' off the ground. :gig

If I put one of those medical assist bars on the outside of my coop I might be able to make it up without a stool. :lau I'm 5'4 and I have short legs. I raised a computer chair up all the way (not even 2' high) and I couldn't get up without having something to hold onto.

@blackdog043 - What are the lengths of your dowels?

Without going out right now and measuring, about 6", 12", 18" and 4' wide open. The only one I made specific was the 4', so the front windows would flip all the way up under the soffit. This prevents twigs and leaves from laying on the glass. The other sizes were
so I had options, when it gets cooler.

If you detach one end of rod, will window fully close?
I'm guessing yes, but can't remember.

Yes, they will fully close with the 6", 12" and 18" dowels. If the windows are closed there is about 3 inches between the glass and hardware cloth. I made a holder for the extra dowels just inside the coop door, so they're easily accessible.

Here are the progress photos from today.

They staked out the area, bored the holes, cleaned them out, set up the posts, measured and made sure everything was in the right place, set the posts in concrete, framed in the floor, put in the joists and got the floor on the coop.

They're coming back tomorrow morning.
