Ok, here is a quick background...we moved to our home 5 years ago. We only have one neighbor, the surrounding area is woods and a road. Thinking that the girls would get along with our girl, the house was somewhat private, a decent sized yard for our dogs etc...we jumped on the purchase. Now, there are many, many times that we wish we didn't! Our neighbor has blamed us for them having to put up a fence to keep THEIR dog out of our yard (1 of ours was always tied (puppy then) and the other was amazing at staying in the boundaries (I believe because he was raised with an underground wired fence). Within the first year, she began complaining about a tree in our yard, that the branch was beginning to come close to her roof. Ok, fine-we just got the whole thing taken down. Then we got another dog (I love animals!) and the day we brought him home, their dog charged the fence at him and ever since then that is what they both do when they see each other. Now mine is tied and hers is not. As soon as this occurs, I get Titans leash and purposely walk him back and forth by the fence while correcting his behaviour toward her. Unfortunately, all the neighbors do is come get their dog and walk away with her so I don't get much opportunity to train Titan like I want which drives me nuts that I'm attempting to control my dog but they are not!
Moving on...we now have chickens. Our coop is built under our deck due to space and convenience. The run is 8ft from the deck toward their house direction (still about 75ft from their house). Now she tells me "I never thought in the 15yrs that I have lived here that I would live next to someone with chickens and 3 dogs" then she proceeds to tell me that her dog likes to chase birds and other little animals and she just hopes she doesn't jump the fence to go after our chickens. I immediately said about how one of our dogs has to be tied when out because he likes to greet people walking on the road (hinting that we took action!)
Why are we at fault because they can't control THEIR dog!!!! We are still finishing up our run and at this time, anything can jump in...I know my dogs won't and I haven't seen wildlife in our yard in the last 3-4 years because of our dogs, so I am not concerned about daytime "predators" other than my neighbors dog!
Wow, that was a long vent...thanks for listening!!!

I think that is where the Good fences makes good neighbors line come in . Sad some people just like to stir trouble . I 70 year old woman I know who has been battling cancer called me today to see if I could help her catch and contain all her Free Range Flock .. as her neighbor just called and said from now on anything he catches in the road .. Dog chicken peacock he is going to intentionally run over : ( Watching those Animals run is her main entertainment .. Sad some people have to be so miserable !

That is insane. I love it how she puts it on YOU to keep her dogs out of your yard. I say get a BB gun and make an example out of one

Neighbors stink! Just the sight of my neighbors house puts me in a bad mood. Yours sounds just like mine worrying about what we do and not themselves. Id shoot the dog with paint balls if it comes anywhere near your chickens so the neighbor gets the idea. They won't know if you use a Bebe gun and that will ruin any satisfaction for you. I wish everyone would just mind their own business and not worry about what any one else is doing.

Me too. We have lived here 13 years. We have been here the longest!!
I have had bad blood with my neighbors since they moved in but that is too long of a story to tell.

But we are cordial.

The other day my DD was getting Jingle Bells one of our goats out of the fence. She had to cut one wire. The Old Man from next door says "Hey Girl donr cut that fence." He didn't try to help her or anything just scared her to death. I had just had tests done at the cardio or I would have been helping her.

Long story short, ALL the t-post and fencing is on our property, we have paid for it all excapt....1 little strip that she cut the wire on. It used to have a 5 strand barb wire fence to keep our cattle in and they asked could they tie onto our t-post and put fencing to keep there goats in, DH said sure. Well the fencing is 6 to 12 inches on our property, on purpose.

So when DH got home he went and fixed the one wire, the Old Man came out and my DH told him he could remove his fencing off of our property at any time. He just stammered and ate crow. LOL

We have talked. After her coming out on her upper porch with a complete attitude about the trees we were planting on our property 8ft away from the fence...I went out to the fence when she was spraying weed killer and flat out asked her what the heck we ever did to her to make her have such issues with what we are doing! She actually attempted to ignore me but I persisted very calmly (shocked myself!) until she finally talked to me. It's amazing how nice she became when confronted in such a calm manner!!! I also found out that is actually jealous of us since we have done so many improvements to our house and property since moving in. Unfortunately even after talking, she still snubs us and her young kids are worse than her!
