Crowing
I am new to chickens. Had planned to start this summer but a friend offered us 2 abandoned chicks from her farm. One turned out to be a boy. We picked up 2 silkies at the feed store sale, again, one turned out to be a boy. After the first boy tried to murder the second we sent him back to the farm he came from and I decided no more roos. I love them and I loved my first one but he was an american game and the learning curve was steep for a beginner. I wanted to add to my flock so I picked up 2 sebright pullets and 2 wyandotte bantam pullets. Well guess what. One of the wyandottes started crowing 2 days ago! I can’t win! Im going to try and make it work because its a bantam silkie rooster and a bantam wyandotte rooster and honestly how bad could it really be? But if it doesnt work he is going back to the lady I purchased him from. Roosters are special and have a purpose but don’t buy chickens without an end game for them if they turn out to be boys! From now on I am only buying chickens that have already laid eggs!!
I ordered from Meyer hatchery. Shipping was expensive. 11 birds shipped total was over $70. Dont remember exactly. But I ordered 10 hens and 1 rooster (vaccinated) and that's exactly what I got. 1 chick didn't make it past 2 or 3 weeks, I think called failure to thrive. But the rest are great. 100% accuracy.
