I can't wait until we get our shed conversion done. My dad has been hauling the rest of the stuff (aka junk) our that he and my brother left after years of collecting. We are planning a big 3 day push on memorial day weekend to get the building and run done! I cannot wait!

i did pretty good until around four on saturday

tarped over the whole thing yesterday late morning
and did a little work under the cover of the tarp

but really need some dry days....

Hi There,

I'm new to the forum and to the world of BYC. I am looking for day-old chicks so we can start a tiny flock in Montpelier. It seems I'm waaayyy to late, as all the orders were taken a while ago. Does anyone on this forum know where I can get day-old chicks? I'd love to get Araconas (spelling) and something else (perhaps 3-4 birds). I have two little kids and need a friendly, cute breed. Any thoughts?

I noticed on Craigslist that there are some chicks, perhaps a couple weeks old for sale. I read that it is best to get the chicks as young as possible. Do you think it matters? I want this to be a good experience for our family, but I'm not sure if waiting matters.

are you looking for girls only? because with most breeds, at a few days old you won't reliably be able to sex the chicks. they're called straight run.

orpingtons are supposed docile, there is someone in northfield that has some of those, and renie in orford new hampshire has some as well.

Hopefully someone else will let you know who else is hatching right now. I think you missed getting any from the feed stores so you may be best off looking for local breeders, not altogether a bad thing. Although it would be worth calling Tractor Supply Company in Montpelier and Guy's Farm & Yard in Montpelier and Morrisville to see if they have any left, I know Guy's Farm and Yard in Williston does not have any, but they did tell someone else to check with Montpelier and Morrisville while I was in there.

This is where we got our 7 chicks from a few weeks ago. Maybe something to consider!
