no, the one in the picture ended up not making it, and the others are late, today is day twenty four. they cam in the mail cold, so I heard that that will make them late. We did the float test, and only two floated. We are hoping one of them will hatch. And I not, we re going to try again.

Sorry to hear that :( Did it just not make it out? Was it shrink wrapped? Them arriving cold shouldn't make them late, they would only be late if your incubator temp has been a little low, but them arriving cold could have killed the embryos. Although they are pretty tough little things - of the 12 khaki campbell eggs I just put in my incubator, 11 are developing. The only one that isn't was actually cracked. There's even one with a detached air cell that's making a go of it. And these were all refrigerated before I set them, too.

If you're not too picky on breed and you're close enough, you could come get some eggs from me - they'd be fresh and fertile and without shipping they'd be more likely to hatch.

Hi All ! Popping on here as the other VT thread is dead with no posts for 6 months.

I am on day 18 of my very first hatch - in an incubator I borred from Pyxis - THANKS !

Oh - and DH thinks he knows exactly what the deal is with the fan - so will fix it for the next round .... I could have from NONE to 15 chicks hatch out in a few days - some shells too dark to candle and tell .... crossing fingers - humidity has been fine all along - but the temp and fan have been all over for these 3 weeks - so who knows .....

:)

So today was lockdown day? Let me know how it goes! I wonder if the fan just came loose from the wiring? I do have another fan that he can wire in there if this one is well and truly shot.

we weren't home when one started to hatch. I was staying home for day twenty one through day twenty three, but then had a big meeting and thats when it happened. It piped from the wrong end, but it seemed to be doing fine, so we didn't touch it. Then it stopped moving. We thought it was tired and had taken a rest. But the next morning it was dead.

Good luck on your hatching Matella!
