Hi everyone! I am in Troy, NH. I'm looking for people somewhat near me who keep ducks- specifically Saxony, Appleyard, and Harlequin. We hope to have some next spring, and I don't mind ordering from a hatchery but I'd rather find a local source. So do let me know if you have ducks or know someone around NE who does. Thanks!

I keep an Araucana breeding trio, so I may have eggs or chicks to swap next spring if anyone local is interested.

Hi all Vermonters!

I live in Bristol Vermont right in the center of Addison County with 38 chickens. Although I have quite a few roosters I will either need to process or find homes for.

I joined BYC in January. Got my first set of chicks in April and they are now starting to lay.

I have Gold Comets (14 17 week olds), Easter Egger Rooster, 2 Buff Orpingtons Not sure if they are roosters or hens yet, 7 Cochin mixes 9 and 6 weeks (I think 4 or 5 of these are Roosters), 7 Light Brahmas 6 weeks (3 roosters and 4 pullets), and 7 Delawares 2 weeks.

I agree with those that say chickens are like potato chips, but they are definitely more fun.

If anyone is interested I have a 9 week old EE Rooster that I am trying to re-home. He is way to pretty for me to eat which is what would normally happen to roosters that I am not keeping for breeding. He is a very solid boy and does crow already but not a lot or very loud. I think he would make a great breeding rooster for someone who has EE hens. I don't have any hens for him here and I already have a rooster for my girls.


I am not worried about getting money for him. I would just like to find him a home so that I don't have to put him in the stew pot this winter

He would need to be picked up because I can't ship him.

This could be a wild ride, Tropical Storm warnings in southern VT, CRAZY!

We've got most of our emergency supplies for the house set up. I still need to get milk, ice and an extra propane tank tomorrow and bake some bread and other goodies. I'm also filling up a big stock tank with extra water for the chooks and toilets in case we lose power for a few days.

I'm going to have to rush some birds out of quarantine and into my big coop tomorrow, and board up one wall of the coop which is currently just hardware cloth covered windows. My coop is across a small access bridge over a stream, I hope it doesn't wash out! I'm going to make sure the chooks have plenty on water and food for a few days in case I can't get to them right off.

I'm watching the weather tracker for the storm and the weather man is getting thrown around by the winds. My main coop is pretty sturdy so I am not too worried about it. My second coop is in a large barn and I think I am going to need to shore up the door that is on the outside facing wall so that it will stay shut when the winds get high. I am debating bringing the younger chickens in side. I have 6 week olds and 2 week olds in my second coop. Hopefully they do okay. It's pretty water proof but you never know. We haven't had a storm like this in a really long time. I did my shopping yesterday so I am all set as long as we don't lose power for too long. We got lots of sandwich fixings so that we can eat without having to cook if necessary.
