vertigo--results "Meneire's disease"

Not been feelin well....again... sigh.

Turns out I've had a sinus infection and have started meds yesterday.

I've also been having vertigo and the nausea and yuck that goes along with it... the ear specialist is to get back with me.... my heart dr. doesn't think it's heart related...seems to be somewhat related to motion; turning head, driving...

My nephew who's 17 was just hospitalized a day ago with Meniere's (sp?) disease... I read up on it and think I fall into several of the criteria. He's feeling better and is home resting now but was taken away by ambulance because he was shaking so badly. He was able to get a hold of his other grandpa and his wife who were able to come to the hospital and watch him "sleep," he said.

Anyway, my mom has been here for the last 3 days helping me since the meds make me sleepy and I can't drive and with my girls...

I was somewhat ignoring it until on Thurs. night an episode hit me so bad I was thinking...do I call my mom or 911? I called my mom and she came immediately and I was soooo scared all night long... I was scared to sleep because I thought I would not wake up but I kept feeling myself go and my heart (pvc's--irregular hear beats) were really noticeable and freaking me out.

So I feel like I've been hit with a dump truck, my sinus's are clogged, my eyes are crusted shut in the morning, I'm coughing and it hurts....and then the vertigo and all....

Just here to reassure you on your vertigo issues, It will be easier to handle as time goes by, and you can feel when an attack is coming. I have had it for almost 20 years now and seldom have an attack, but can feel one coming and take my Meds and bingo back to normal. Hang in there it is a little tough in the begining.

Can they give you some antivert for a couple of days?

I lost my job this summer over a menierres type disease. Mine is a miscommunication between my occular nerve and what my ear says is happening as far as balance goes.

Thankfully it goes into a remission like state for a couple of days at a time or I think I would walk off a cliff. Even air pressure changes as different weather comes through effects it.

Also try lots and lots of fluids, it keeps the mucus thin and will help with the vertigo.
Dont move fast, dont whip your head around and sit/stand up slowly.

Exactly! I will roll over and feel like I have dropped 10 feet and then cant even find my way out of the bed. Do you find that certain things trigger yours like lighting in buildings? Home Depot kills me. Doc says its the 'warehouse' style stocking and the lighting.

I think that antivert and meclizine are the same thing....generic and name brand. Mine is meclizine too. I have it in both vehicles and my purse.

I have had the sinus infection- vertigo- think I'll die when I roll over in bed at night- crusty eyes- mucus issues for a long time. Go to an allergist. Mine is also an otolaryngologist (sp?) and has helped me TREMENDUSLY! allergy shots twice a week, and three pills a night, but I function really well now. I also avoid wheat, and that helped a whole bunch.

The eye vertigo thing got better for me when they put me on an antiseizure medication. It sycronized me some how. And I sleep like a rock. I never had before. Ever. I wasn't having seizures, but a long standing sinus infection irritated a nerve next to my eye. The medication keeps it from screaming at me, now it just wispers.

People do not realize how dangerous the cronic sinus infections can be.

al.... the Meclizine is exactly what they gave me yesterday... she gave me a low dose since I was afraid about getting knocked out silly being the only one home to tend to my children... but I think I need a bigger dose.

I sometimes take 2 but it does make me sleepy. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

On the retail light issue yes I find walmart is the worst and actually spoke to an electritian friend of mine and he says they use them on purpose because of they use less energy and he said folks complain all the time that is makes their eyes water and gives them a headache. Some things will actually trigger an attack so watch out for these, like climbing a ladder and heights, or looking at fast moving storm clouds things like that. I also like to put an ice pac on the back of my neck when I feel like one is coming and it really helps to disipate the feeling.
