VERY disappointed in buildingachickencoop.com

Are you sure you weren't on this site http://mystorageshed.blogspot.com/? The link you posted doesn't work. This blogspot site looks pretty good, thank you for sending me on the search to find it!

Building a coop isn't that hard, it does help to be somewhat familiar with construction techniques, fortunately my husband used to bang nails for a living, we built a 10x10' coop without plans, he just 'winged it' while he was going along.

this website is such a wonderful resource! I am considering now building a shed type of thing from these free plans linked to above.

we have a temp set up with wire fencing in a covered horse stable area for summertime and our plan was to build their coop as economically as possible over the next few weeks. Ive looked at some of the gorgeous coops on this site- and they inspire me but are totally out of our league as far as building skills.

I appreciate so much all the feedback! I don't have my money back yet- but the guarantee should be all I need, if they honor their word on buildingachickencoop.com

We want to build the safest most comfortable coop for our tiny 3 hen flock with little-to-no building skills- is that too much to ask?
HAHAHA!

If you're still looking, I have a lot of experience with the catawbacoops design and found that it makes an impressive coop. He gives really detailed instructions, a supply list, a detailed "cut" list so you know what to cut, how and from what. On top of that, he's got this awesome program where you can view the build in 3D and see it from every angle.

I've had questions as I've been working on the project, and emailed him at the address he's listed. I was delighted to find that he's very personable and responds within 24 hours every time.

I've built three this month from his plans now, so I feel confidant in being able to advise on these things.

I bet a lot of people here could help with your questions, they are very good at that.
You could at least double check any advice you get from Lowes or Home depot.

kyklincgar,
your coop plans and detailed instructions are incredible! It just looks so much easier to manage for a novice like me. and the finished result looks really great!
I have been serously considering the catawba coop- but it looks kind of laborious- and the lumber is pricey for such a small coop.

A few questions: I didn't take the time to do the math, square footage/number of chicks for this coop?

what about weather- how well do you expect the roof to hold up? would it be possible to add shingles to this roof?

I have 4 chicks, so I really think your design is the one I might go with- the economical usage of the lumber is really a money saver. I am going to review it with my coop builder comrade today(my 14 yr old son) and maybe we'll go get the materials later.
