Very odd egg coloration?

So I keep coturnix quail only. They lay "normal" patterned eggs regularly, but today I found an unusual one. It is completely patternless with a tanish coloration. Any coturnix owners out there that get eggs like this on some occasion? Is this a quality issue or something I should be worried about? I'm sure it's nothing but I figured I would share this with some of you in the hope's of getting the science behind it :idunno

No big deal. It just missed the layering of pigment step. If the shell feels particularly brittle, though, you might want to make sure that your hens are getting enough calcium.
What would be a good way to tell if the shells are brittle? I do feed them crushed eggshell every couple of feedings. I just know quail eggs are already fragile in general so I'm not sure how I'd be able to tell if it's brittle or normal. Forgive me I'm still new to egg quality.

When you crack it, the shell will be thinner and easier to break than normal eggs. It sounds like you're giving them extra calcium, which is good. As Sulky Bantam said, though, I would give them oyster or egg shell on the side and let them eat as much as they want.

Ah okay when I get home I'll grab some fresh eggs and test that out. Thank you!

Where would I get oyster shell, online? Any specific type if there is one?

Oyster shell is easiest got online.
I don't have a type recommendation 'cos I'm on a different continent!
You can get it mixed with grit but it sounds like just pure oyster shell is what you want.
Just look into it, it's not hard to find or expensive and you can usually get as much as you possibly want!

Just make sure that you crush it down to quail size pieces.
I get chicken oyster shell and it disappears. I do use chick grit and the quail take that also. Both are similar size from my farm store. Different brands will be different sizes, so beware.

I'd offer it and see if they pick out the small pieces and leave the large ones.
