So sorry for your loss. I was told that if a peafowl continously opens their mouth, like yawning, and stretching their necks, it could be a symptom of gape worm. I lost a 4 month old chick to gapeworm. If you haven't done so already (but I'm sure you have, I haven't been following the posts), you might want to get all your peafowl wormed.
