An injection of antibiotics unk kindGlad a vet was able to see you! Yes, I would still go ahead and worm. What did the vet give you for antibiotics?
They probably gave Baytril by injection. An injection of antibiotics unk kind
And Baytril pills antibiotic
If it is a bacterial infection the Baytril can start working in 4-6 hours. Many vets will give a Baytril shot in the office and send people home with pills. If it's gapes you should see improvement in 72 hours.
We got him started on safeguard and he is slightly better. The Baytril is in pill form and we are giving it by feeding tube with baby food. The coop is very clean as they only sleep in it. Parts of the yard are under 2" of water from all of the rain. We only have two ducks. They are brothers. The healthy duck is separated for now and he waits by the sliding glass door all day with his brother. The coop was wet in areas where the rain has come through. I cleaned it out just in case. I also bought a bottle of vetrx and Tylan50 in case our healthy duck gets sick.
Bill, the sick duck has access to a deep dish of water with oregano and a splash of apple cider vinegar. He is inside in a large dog crate with wee pads under him.
I hooked up an air pump to blow air toward him.
I appreciate everyone's help and suggestions. Thank you!!! I know to some people it seems silly, but we raised him from a duckling and he's part of our little farm.
His brother is heartbroken being separated. If Bill doesn't make it, do we need to get another duck right away? I know they are not meant to be alone.
