Vet tech gets bit - Dog now on death row

I know that Spork was saved and I am soooo happy about that. I had to have one of my labs put down as being vicious because, he was loose and running true, and kids teens, were chasing him and hitting him with sticks and screaming! Then here comes the Animal control with what? a long pole and he corners Red and red did show his teeth and growl but he did not bite anybody and was trying to get away and they were surrounding him. lt is a dogs or other animals nature to protect themselves at all cost they cant debate, cant call the law alls they can do is fight their way out of a situation and if takes biting to get the message across they will go the distance. Just my thought and it makes me sick everytime I hear a story like that. Another dog Pitbull mix was minding his own bussiness in his own back yard when somebody broke in and robbed my sons friends parents, they were gone at the time and came home while the guy was still in the house he took out through the back door and the dog grabbed the guy by the leg as he was climbing the fence to get away (with stolen items)and bit the theifs leg pretty bad. I say good dog, but the law said she was vicious and had to be put down AND the other Kicker was the thief sued the dog owner and won the case!! Go figure! This makes no sense to me!
I know both of these cases are not similiar to Sporks but from what I understand that Spork was being held, no way to escape, his only resort to make the threat stop was to bite, makes perfect Doggy sense to me!

Just one more thing, I saw this on the Animal Planet channel, If a bear attacts a person in a forest because it percieves people as a threat it was only doing what came natural and the bear was left to go on its merry way, Why is that considered a natural behavior, but if a dog protects its self its vicious??? I just don't get it! Sandy

Hey Kelly

A vet professional faces such incidences almost all daily. More often veterinary technicians regularly face such things as they are always in contact with the animals. They often perform medical tests and treat medical conditions and diseases in animals. They may perform laboratory tests such as urinalysis and blood counts. Some veterinary technicians record patients' case histories, expose and develop x rays and radiographs, and provide specialized nursing care. The article http://onlineveterinarytechnicianschools.com/veterinary-technician-careers-and-jobs/ explains the role of vet professionals.
Veterinary technicians assist care for small pets, such as cats and dogs, but can perform a variety of duties with mice, rats, sheep, pigs, cattle, monkeys, birds, fish, and frogs. This shows that they are continuously in touch with the animals, which may sometimes leads to such accidents.

I feel for my vet everytime he comes crawling out of his car and unable to walk from his last client kicking him. He then gets on with getting kicked again in the same leg, same spot at my place and goes off to his next appointment. At the end of the day, he must really look forward to his easy chair. Never anything but a smile on his face and "its all part of the job".

Vets know these things go with the territory, but I do my absolute best to make it as safe as possible for him. I really have to bite my tongue when something gets restrained because they aren't all that delicate about it, but I can see the need so I keep my mouth shut.
