Welcome neighbor! I'm fairly close to you in "Surprising Suffolk".

How are you holding up under that Dismal Swamp wildfire smoke? Morning fog plus smoke equals chickens wait for their breakfast another hour! I imagine them looking at their little feather watches and complaining "Where is that woman?"

We got a few short downpours today. Anyone else get significant rain?

Ugh the smoke is hit or miss............ a week ago it was absolutely ridiculous and everyone (humans, furries and feathered) just wanted to hide out

We got a little bit of rain but quite honestly we need LOTS more. Really sad about the wildfire........ how's it holding up on your side? I know today the winds were to bring it your way and south. I'm def keeping an eye on this now Hurricane.... apparently its set to hit SC then work its way up here....then again we know how those suckers always change their paths.....

Earthquake check-in!!!! Are you people down near Louisa okay??? My brothers in Fluvanna County and Mechanicsville both have structural damage to their homes. I was in bed because I hurt my back, and awakened to a shaking bed and the night stand dancing and rattling, but I don't have any damage. I had convinced myself that I dreamed it, then the radio announced an earthquake.

I hope everything is an easy fix for their houses. I was lounging on my bed and talking on the phone with a friend from Florida when it hit. My mirror shook, then my bed. As I was telling her I thought it was an earthquake, I could hear our grandfather clock clunking around and ringing despite being run down. It seemed to last over a minute.

Also, may your hurt back get to feeling better very soon.

It was awhile before I could even read the forums here. I think everyone was busy calling and texting so my Internet was dead slow for over an hour. Has everyone got utilities back up? If Irene decides to do more than rain on us, do your laundry and turn your freezer and fridge to a colder setting. Remember to return to normal settings when all is clear. Frozen cucumbers are just wrong, lol.

So crazy about the earthquake! Goodness! Hope everyone is alright.

So sorry to hear about the structural damage

Hopefully it's not too hard *nor too much $$* to fix for them. Hope everyone takes care. Earthquake today, potential hurricane this weekend

Eeeeeep

All is good here. I left soon after the quake to go to work and got stuck in terrible traffic. Appearently everyone left work at once after the quake.
Not looking forward to this weekend.
