Hi everyone. New member here in Franklin County (south of Roanoke). I began the year with 0 poultry, and now they're everywhere, haha and I love it. I played duckling roulette with the tractor supply mystery duckling bin and ended up with 3 drake's to one duck, which is not going to work. Anyone interested in 2 of these beautiful boys? They're friendly, gorgeous, and 8 weeks old. If no one on here wants them I'll take them to the chicken swap at TSC Saturday to try their luck there. Looking to rehome the 2 on the right. Also, if anyone had female pekins available nearby I'd love to buy them.

Check with me in the spring, I have 2 jumbo pekin girls that hatched in May. I raised them and they seem pretty happy but I may swap them out and get some geese next year. I got them for pets and eggs, but they aren’t really pets, they let me get about 3’ away.

LOOKING TO REHOME 4 month Chinese Goose Gander
My name is Maria. I work at Nalls Produce, it’s a small farm/market/plant nursery in Springfield, VA.
I’m reaching out to y’all today because I hatched and hand-raised a chinese goose at Nalls, believing that would be his permanent home, alongside his parents. Unfortunately because of the amount of foot traffic with customers and employees unfamiliarity with geese, as well as the close proximity the animals are to the people. They want me to rehome him and I feel like he could have a better life somewhere else. I’m not sure if he will ever be able to have a mate at Nalls, we are already have two geese which are his parents and their enclosure is very small. It breaks my heart, because he is the first animal I’ve ever raised and I want him to have a full good life. I would really love for him to find a home near by so that I can still visit him and see how he is growing up. He is about 4 months old.
He is very used to people, loves corn, and swimming. I would honestly love to be super involved in getting him settled and adjusted, and would be happy to donate money for his care. He has a goose house built on a pallet so it is move able.
He can be a little aggressive with strangers but warms up pretty fast. I’d love to see him accepted into a flock and find his forever home.
He is currently still living at my work however he is being confined to a small area and it makes me sad to see him like that.
I’m trying to reach out to local farmers in the fairfax va area however I really lack the connections in the farming world. If you are aware of anyone who has waterfowl or chinese geese, I would greatly appreciate if you would be willing to share their contact information or to share mine with them. I would really like to find a good home for my goose. A photo of myself and the goosie!

New member here from Clifton. Have 10 8 week old pullets (Rhode Island Red, Barnevelder, Barred Rock, Golden Buff, and Cream Legbar). Looking to get some Black Australorps chicks (hens and a roo) next spring and am going to try meat birds as well.

Hey Virginians! How's everyone adjusting to this cold weather!?
So far, so good here. My waterfowl are getting used to not having the luxury of the full time swimming pools. (My water bill is loving it though!)

We had a couple really cold days, bit other than that it's been typical fall weather around here in the New River Valley.

My rooster has been attacking snowflakes. This is such a fun thing to witness. Now if only I could get pictures!!

We've had temps up and down here in the valley. My poor girls don't know what to make of the ever changing temps, so they are all molting for lack of anything better to do. I'm breaking ice some mornings and breaking ice again throughout the day. Getting a heater for the water trough this week. Fun, fun, fun

oh my gosh...please get a video of the rooster attacking those vicious snowflakes!

I've got one heated bucket going so far, but I think I'm going to break down and get another. Hauling water in and out of the house is going to get old quick!

Not usually THIS cold in VA this early. I born raised in VA and the saying goes " if you don't like the weather give it a day.. it'll change " At least where I live in va we can get all the seasons in a week. Lol. Once we get through this cold snap ( I'm hating my outdoor job right now ) hope you enjoy va. It can be a beautiful state
