Virginia

On Thursday Jamestown feed and seed in Norge received 150 chicks. 75 Ameraucana's, 25 New Hampshire reds, 25 Buff orpingtons and 25 Jersey giants. Sold all of them in one day! Crazy how fast they moved.

I know, I'm not sure what the reason chicks sell so fast nowadays. I guess folks are trying to be more self sufficient cause you never know what's going to happen in this day and time. I've got 50 Delaware and 28 New Hampshire eggs in the incubator that I plan to sell and I may be sold out before they're a week old.

yeah i would like delawares and new hampshires actually...hopefully though i will have some chicks between the 27th and 1st. If they sell out again before i can get some I would be interested in purchasing from you.

I honestly don't now about show quality, we never really got into that, so I would guess not. Some of our birds have been around quite a while, with some new blood mixed in from time to time. I will post a few pics, we have always had chickens, just never new they had become so popular until recently. I guess we will start looking into this chicken craze more closely, and adjust our breeding accordingly. If you know RIRs, feel free to tell me what you think.

does loudoun county allow backyard chickens? where do I get this information? thanks. your dog is so cute....

I have some pq silkie chicks available...they will be beautiful birds..i am grading them pq just because i am not happy with toe spacing on 4th and 5 toes. also have some bantam polish available

Bob,just wanted to remind you that I want some buff laced polish when you have some for sale :) also some pullets and maybe 1 more roo out of paint project, any color will do as they are for my project.

Depends on if you are in a neighborhood or township in Loudoun Co. But if there is no HOA and you are just in the County You can have chickens as long as their coop is 50 feet from any well. If you are in a subdivision with no HOA you can NOT have a Rooster. I can't remember how much land you have to have to have a roo. Has anyone heard of a Chicken swap or sale near Loudoun County. I want some Buff Orpingtons, Cochins and Wyndott ( forgive my misspelling) And does anyone know if a few Silkies would do well this these bigger birds???

I wouldn't put silkies with the larger birds. They are not only smaller but they don't fly either. They stand more of a chance of being picked on by the larger ones. I have both a laying flock and my silkies.I have different houses for them and never let them together.Maybe if they were all hens the silkies would stand a better chance, not something I am willing to risk though.
Tactor Supply is also getting chicks in at the end of this month so that may be a good place to pick up some babies :)
