hmmm...constant chapped lips and constant headaches, I wonder....

I've also had MRI's and CAT scans all normal. I also suffer from IBS, so I wonder if B12 is the culprit all these years.

If you take the B12 supplement w/o being tested is there a side effect to having to much?

I am so glad you posted this thread! Both my sister and I suffer from horrible headaches. Hers are worse by far than mine. The last one landed her in the emergency room. I talked to her last night and she said her lips are always horribly chapped. I sent her off to the store for some B12. Auto-immune problems run in the family (I have Crohns, Dad has myasthenia gravis, Mother has IBD). Nice to think that perhaps there is a reason for these headaches!

I definitely feel better when I take it. I get headaches (and a lot of other stuff) when I don't.

My personal theory which has no basis whatsoever in science is that since Americans are for the most part dehydrated that water-soluble vitamin deficiencies are taking their toll on health (along with a lot of other self-inflicted diseases and conditions).

A lack of B12 can cause fingers and hands to tingle or feel numb. Some folks who think they have or who have been told they have carpal tunnel (because it's a trendy thing to have) that isn't treated *god forbid* with surgery have this. (Other folks who think they have or have been told they have carpal tunnel have thoracic outlet syndrome - but that's another discussion).

Make sure you take a high quality multi-vitamin and multimineral in addition to the B12.
Vitamins need other vitamins and minerals to be absorbed properly and used in your body. Taking B by it's self is about 1/3 to 1/2 as effecticve as if taken in conjunction with Multi vitamins.
