I don't think vultures eat live chickens they only eat dead stuff vultures live all around my house nothing has happened only thing to worry about is hawks if you have a dead one they will eat it
thanks we do have a hawk but our coops and runs are fully closed with chicken wire over hardware cloth. I would only worry their hour of free range in the evenings.

We have lots of turkey vultures around our property, and they are mostly black. Very cool looking and they never bug the chickens. Last year, on a misty morning, they were on the ground and my turkey hens chased them off!

Just yesterday, one flew down near my chickens, and my Lavender Ameracauna ran at it to chase it off or check it out. It flew right away. They seem to be wimps.

They are opportunists that will snatch up a meal whenever they can. These guys are incredible. I've seen them move a deer carcass off the road. This particular group lined up like pall bearers and worked together to move the dead body to the side of the road.

Great picture! Did you take it? If so, may I use that in a vulture article? You'll get full credit of course.
