Vultures

The turkey Vultures also got back to Wisconsin about a month ago. Unfortunately there is a half a foot of snow on the ground right now so I am not sure if that is affecting them. I missed them this fall, some noob hunter who does not know how to shoot hit 2 deers just below the spine but above the lungs and heart... It was a bad enough shot that the deer had time to run all the way from the back cornfield behind my property, through a massive marsh, through my forest, and then plop down and die right off the trail behind my house... We do not really have a lot of coyotes or chicken killing predators around so it was all up to the opossums and hawks to finish off two big bucks, every day that it bumped up into the 40s those things stunk, bad.

Catalina Island Vulture!

I’ve actually been to Catalina island a few times, and one time when I was a teenager I was sitting on the beach, early morning with some friends, and a huge dump truck backed up on the beach and dumped a giant load of fish heads and guts. The bird feeding frenzy was INSANE.
So you have been to Catalina! Then you know that bird is a vulture....And trained killer.:gig:lau:cool:

Vultures in our yard after I moved a roadkill raccoon to a safer feeding spot. The two eating are black vultures, I think a mated pair. They worked together to guard the food from others until they'd had their fill. The one closer to the camera is a younger black vulture, and the one to the left is a turkey vulture. They hung out to the side until the mated pair filled up and left.
