Vultures

Black headed vultures will attack live animals. It’s happened to my neighbors before. Red headed only eat dead stuff.

Vultures in our yard after I moved a roadkill raccoon to a safer feeding spot. The two eating are black vultures, I think a mated pair. They worked together to guard the food from others until they'd had their fill. The one closer to the camera is a younger black vulture, and the one to the left is a turkey vulture. They hung out to the side until the mated pair filled up and left.

Bigger than our cats! The cats stalked them from a distance away but decided against actually trying to get a vulture.
