Waiting on Ideal...

I too am waiting on an order from Ideal, I was selected the 19th b/c I am off from school this week and figured I would have most of the week to be here for them so I selected today (Date Desired on their webpage) to me that means they will show up today not ship on that date. I didn't get a call from them or anything so I showed up at the post office just when the truck was getting there. Nope no chicks on the truck, came home called the distribution hub for the area and talked to the truck supervisor and gave him my number. When it was late enough I called Ideal and they said yes your chicks will be shipped out today and you will get them tomorrow or Friday. So I was alittle on edge this morning when they weren't here I started getting worried (past horror stories of lost chicks). So I am still on the edge of my seat for two more days....ugh this is killing me...

I ordered from Ideal and am expecting mine to arrive tomorrow. I went to the post office yesterday to let them know. The girls at the post office here are very nice, and took my phone number, even though it will be on the box. They will call at 7:30am, so I can be there when the doors open at 8am.

I ordered 10: 2 australorps, 2 buff orps, 2 golden comets, and 4 blue andalusians. I'm so excited. Got the brooder set up yesterday, tested temps, etc. I should be ready to go in the morning.

Can't wait!

I took a note to the PO yesterday with all my contact info and they promised to call me at 7:30 when they open if the chicks are in. So I guess no chicks today - I may be camped on their steps tomorrow at 7:30

Lea, my brain is feather-frizzled out, too. Total lack of concentration...

Cheers,
Michelle

Mine/ours should arrive tomorrow. I was getting concerned so I emailed Ideal---I got a response right away!

Looks like tomorrow (Friday) will be chick days here!

Got a call from the main post office tonight. We jumped up and drove over, a little more than hour round trip. Got home about 10pm. All 10 chicks were alive, but one little Andalusian wasn't doing so well. After she warmed up in the brooder, I finally got her to drink, and now she seems to be doing much better.

These are my first chicks and they are the tiniest little things! So precious, I can't believe I've been staring at them for almost 2 hours.

I didn't get my Australorps. Got substitutes, I think easter eggers. They're adorable, of course. Anybody else order australorps and not get them? Not that I'm complaining, I wanted easter eggers, too. Almost ordered some...

I'll post pictures tomorrow.

You all are sooooo lucky. Mine from Ideal are to be shipped next Weds. The PO said they would call me as soon as they get in as long as there's a phone # on the box so I'm going to call Ideal in just a minute to make sure the # is on the there.

I too paid for insurance to get no extra's
Getting
Cochins: 1 red, 1 golden lace, 1 partridge and one white to add to my colors. Just need a splash and a mottled now.

And I ordered 2 Jersey Giants just for fun.

Check the box. When I got mine, it had a list of what was in the box. I don't think I would be happy if I was given something other than what I ordered. If they don't have it, I want to be asked whether I want a substitute or hold shipment until they have my whole order or?...

Oh, and congratulations. You must post pictures!

The packing slip lists Australorps, but it is circled, and I clearly have no Australorps. But I got very lucky to get substitutes that I wanted. If they had sent me CornishX as a substitute, I would not have been happy!

Here they are in their little Rubbermade brooder. It is way too small! I'll be building a real brooder over the weekend.

And here is one of the mystery chicks. The pic isn't so good, but you can see that she has little poofy cheeks.

And here are my buff orps.

A Golden Comet.

And last but not least, a couple of Andalusians. They are considerably smaller than all the others. These are the darkest two. But at least they would sit still. These little cuties are FAST!
