some here use an incubator and a hatcher for more "industrial" style hatching. circulated air incubator (with fan) with a still air hatcher (no fan). get yourself the quail egg trays too and you will be rocking and rolling.

Has anyone here ever used a Brinsea Mini Advance? That's the bator I was looking at getting as I only want really, really small hatches and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the performance was like. It says it has digital temperature control and automatic turning with auto stop two days prior to hatch day, but how does it work?

The thing that confused me was that I couldn't tell from looking at the pictures how the auto turning was supposed to look. And I don't know if it comes with the quail egg tray or if I would have to buy that separately. Does anyone know?

The turner is a plate that is shaped like a gear, as the eggs incubate, the turner plate slowly rotates, turning the eggs on thier side. However for the price of the mini you can get the 20. Brinsea does bators really really well, and I adore the toss it in the dishwasher cleaning method.

Unlike stryos and others, you tilt the whole incubator from the outside, takes 1 second (I have mine next to the bathroom and swap sides when I go to use it). Means I don't need to fuss with turning and motors and all of that. In gereral, the less parts to break the better I do with any equiptment, i'm just lucky like that.

Thank you very much for that!! I love the ease of turning the eggs by turning the entire incubator cabinet and the fact that it holds up to 60 eggs as opposed to the 12 eggs that the Mini Advance holds. Can you leave the eggs in the incubator for hatching? Would you have to remove the tray or can you leave it in there with them? How is the humidity controlled?

I hatch in mine.

There are egg rails you can use if you'd like, and pop out at lockdown,you'll kep the tray in, othwise the eggs would be in the water channels.

There is a vent on the top to adjust humidity.

Would you recommend buying a digital thermometer/hydrometer to put to in additional to any measuring equipment that's built into the incubator?
