I added my farm to the listings too and we'll see if I get any new customers. I think the "Local Hens" site is nice and easy to join and use. Some of my friends and customers are linking the site thru social media. I recommend everyone to get on board.

Here is a link for freezing eggs.
http://whatscookingamerica.net/Eggs/FreezingEgg.htm
Just do a google search for more information.
I used "how to freeze eggs"

I myself like the idea of cracking 1 egg per hole into a muffin tin.
Just freeze in the pan till firm, and then transfer to a ziplock bag.
I think whipping the egg up before you freeze would be a good idea.
I don't freeze eggs as my girls keep me well supplied.

My main group is 29 hens and I recently added 16 more adult birds that I
bought at $ 2 each as the lady who had them needed to sell off her flock.
All I am doing right now with the second group is getting good feed into
them, but no layer mash. My main group is anywhere between 15 to 21 eggs
per day. I do in the good weather take the eggs to a farmers market 1x a week.
I had to get my price to $ 4 a dz to cover the grain costs and my extra gas.
In the winter, I can go to that market but it is weather permitting.
I used to give away a lot of eggs, especially in the winter.
If I have extra eggs, I will sell to a couple of neighbors at a better price.
I do have one customer who will buy 10 dz at a time if he gets a DEAL.

My eggs are brown, and I have 1 green egg layer in my main group.
Red sex link, buff orpingtons, delawares, and the 1 ameracauna.
Second group has 3 ameracaunas, 5 black star, 1 delaware, 5 red wynadottes,
2 black/white wynadottes. We have 3 roosters currently.

............ I need to see if I can edit my signature ...........

Thank you for posting about this site! I just signed us up! We have 4 layers and are waiting for the 5th, but she just hasn't started yet. I usually give a dozen away every week or 2. I am hoping that I can find 1 or 2 locals looking to buy from us biweekly or weekly for half dozen. I enjoy giving them away, but if I could sell a few doz a month, that would help pay for feed. I have mine on a locally mixed feed that is organic (not certified) and SOY FREE. THey are in a coop with a run and whenever we are home they are roaming the yard. I do get lots of questions on the EE eggs....people are very suspicious of something they've never seen before! Like, does it taste any different?? hahaha

We have 11 hens laying. We give extras to family and I just started selling any extras after that to people at work. I've only sold 3 dozen at work and already have a waiting list of 8 people. If I get more chickens....

I have two ladies that come running any time I have extra eggs. I sold my big flock and had to wait for my crosses to start laying so I have t0 alternate between the two ladies. One of them even gave me a $25 gift card for Christmas because she loves my eggs so much.

I just looked up my area on the site, there is just one one farm, and I drive by there every day. My eggs are all different sizes so i'm not sure anyone would buy them but i give away lots... we are getting about 6/day on average, not enough to sell yet, but when my marans grow up we will have LOTS....

thanks for the link, very productive..
Don't think no one will buy your eggs because they are different sizes. When I first advertised my extra eggs on CL I stated in the ad that the eggs were different sizes and I would not separate them. They bought what ever the hens lay. My girls free range most the day and produce delicious eggs and I haven't had any complaints yet.

Very good to know! Always looking for a way to help! I usually just try and sell enough to try and pay for chicken feed!
