I put my sweet girl down. She became lethargic this afternoon.
I did a necropsy- no egg; no yokes maturing. She had significant fat stores in the belly and pelvis, liver fat stranding. The small intestine looked very pale and some ascites.
My best guess is obesity, heart failure related organ failure.
I sure will miss her; my rooster has been crowing all the time calling her home.
thanks for the help BYC. I kind of knew death was eminent.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's clear you cared for her, but were strong enough to let her go, rather than let her suffer. Sometimes it's just hard.
