***Warning re: Ebay and PayPal ***

I bought a egg scale on ebay using paypal. The scale did not work and actually seemed to be missing a part. I contacted the seller and they said to return it for a full refund. I paid the shipping to return it and then when they issued a refund through it was a partial refund. The seller emailed me and called me a liar and that I just changed my mind and didn't want it. The communication from the seller was really nasty ! I then told him I would no longer communicate with him. I contacted paypal and sent them copies of the nasty emails. I started a claim asking for the rest of my money and my return shipping costs. That was 2 weeks ago and paypal has done notheing !!!!

my husband sold something for $200 and we r not able to ship it yet due to the weight and size of package being over at several places. so we fineally yet again have it reboxed smaller to ship for like the 4th time now. this guy has talked to us on phone and email and knows what the hold up is and never had a prob with it. even told him if we absolutely couldn't ship his items we'd refund fully or drive it there ourselves since the price included shippigng and he is in pa also. he was fine with that no probs.

i was going to mail them tomarrow and see that the idiot he sold to has now filed a complaint for dispute for not getting them yet. paypal took all the money in my account, all the money i have had come in for 3 transactions now and it still shows in a negative saying i owe them money. wth???

how is my transactions that r private any of their business?? that is hooked to my bank account, my debit cards ect. how r they allowed to steal money from my account to refund someone for something when they don't even know what is going on?? they never sent me anything till they pulled $200 from my account with no warning and it was a personal transaction nothing to do with ebay or anyone else. it has froze all my stuff i can't even print shipping labels all it will do is collect money to give to him. between that, the stupid feedback system and the crazy fees i pay for ebay forget it and this is not the first time it is about the 4th time they have pulled this garbage. after this gets fixed i'm not useing paypal or ebay again or anything to do with them. i'll wait for money orders and use eggbid. my account will now stay froze till his tracking numbers show delivered, that's really nice even if it does get fixed how do i know they won't pull that again. i'm withdrawing everything once this is straightened out.

it's not the guy that po's me it is alot of money so i understand the concern but we were honest with him he knew they were still comeing one way or the other. the part that po's me is paypal had no right to steal anything from my acounts ever without proof of anything, without questioning hey whats going on ect. i think it is illegal and i'd like to report it but don't know how to. even a bank is not allowed to do that to us who died and left paypal in charge? who do they think they r? it's like an online manopoly and u can only use them and they controll it all and i'm really mad!! that is our money and they r only a service provider how r they getting away with doing this to people? and when i ship them tomarrow as agreed to do and he gets them and there is yet any other probs can they pull all that money again causeing me out everything???

I use Paypal. I have it hooked to a free bank account that I opened specifically for Paypal. When I get money into pay pal, I immediately have it transfered to my bank account that is attached to Paypal. When it gets there, I then transfer it to my regular checking account that is NOT connected to Paypal. Ive had no problems yet, but I dont do a lot of business thru them, just selling the occasional eggs or flowers.

Halo, that is an excellent idea.

And yes, if you have a merchant account, and a customer contests a sale, they take the money ... charge you an additional fee and then you have to provide proof of the sale or whatever. They don't 'notify' you prior to doing it. And they give you a whole 24 hours to respond or you are out of luck.

Halo, be sure what your bank's policy is on that *if your personal accounts and PayPal account are at the same bank.* I had an issue one time at Trustmark where the Paypal account overdrew, and the bank took money out of a different account to cover it because it's my banks policy to pull money out of one account to cover overdrafts in another account.

Also, I wanted to add my recent peculiar experience with PayPal buyer credit. I don't normally buy things on credit, but I had used PayPal buyer credit as a convenience and paid it off in full every month. Until like the 4th or 5th month I used it when I didn't get a statement.

Near the end of the month, I got to thinking, "Isn't it time for me to pay the PayPal card?" I went and looked and the payment was due THAT DAY. Well, I made to pay it instantly, but it takes them two days to process the payment, so they charged me a $25 late fee.

I thought it was possible I'd gotten the email and just missed it. But the next month, I got a letter in the mail saying PayPal can't send me my email statements because they don't have a valid address. So, I go check my account and it's due the NEXT DAY. So I pay it immediately, but it's going to take two days to post and I get charged another late fee. The letter I got was really weird and suspicious looking, too. I was afraid to log into my account it was so strange! It looked like it was hand typed and didn't have any kind of business logo or anything on it and wasn't signed by anyone. Besides that, PayPal has the same two email addresses for me that they have always had, that I always used, and which I get email including paypal email into every day.

So, I called customer service. The guy I talked to said he would start sending me paper invoices as well as email invoices. He couldn't explain why the previous two invoices hadn't come. He tried to refund me the late fees (so he said) but the computer would not allow him to do it. Normally in this kind of situation, I would have cussed somebody out. I'm serious. Just for the pleasure of ruining his day the way he ruined mine. But he acted like he really cared and he really tried. So, I couldn't take it out on him.

I've taken your advice and filed a complaint with the BBB. I'll be surprised to get any satisfaction out of this, but I quit using the card. As soon as I pay it off, I'm going to close the account.

It's just so, so disappointing that they have gotten to hold thier customers in such low regard. More than being disgusted with them for treating us as dispensable... it's just sad.

Same situation happened to me 2 months back. After selling on eBay for 11 years! Buyer didn't insure.....item arrived broken and they wanted a full refund plus shipping costs from me. Their claim was item not as described. And then they wanted me to pay return postage for the doll. I wouldn't agree so they went ahead and filed a claim.
Paypal held my funds and I just threw up my hands after a week and agreed to refund her the cost of doll/shipping to end the situation.
Yes, sellers beware ..........insure costly items in the very least.
Then she leaves me neg feedback. My first in years......go figure.

Ya know over on Eggbid there are always a few people who sell eggs and birds and refuse to take Paypal...well, now we know why.

I was just thinking that I might offer a "same as cash" kind of discount for my products, like 10% off, if they send me a cashiers or bank check insted of doing business online with credit cards. Of course I will still have to accept paypal or another merchant account or no one would ever buy anything, but every little bit one can stay out of "the system" is a good thing if you ask me.

Just wanted to let anyone who was following this thread know that I got a response from them today. PayPal buyer credit is handled by GE Moneybank. They agreed, through the Better Business Burea, to credit my account the $50 in late charges.

Many Thanks to whoever suggested involving the BBB.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Cassandra

they refunded the $200 for mine once the trackings showed buyer recieved the items but still how on earth can they control what's in someones account? that shouldn't be legal either. i don't see how one company can control all that stuff however they want to.
